8.9" LCD @ 1024x600 @ 32bpp 60hz
VIA VX800 Chipset
VIA C7-M 1.6ghz
2gb DDR2 533mhz
8gb Sandisk SSD

Sound:
VT1708A (Azalia HDAC)
*Supported by Uniaud

Wired Networking:
 Realtek 8101E/8102E
VENDOR/DEVICE: 10EC/8136
*Not working in GenMac 2.20 UNSUPPORTED
*Will load, crash when Ethernet cable is inserted

Wireless Networking: (160a:3184)
VIA VT6656 USB 802.11g
*Not working, driver source available
*USB not yet supported in GenMac

Multimedia Card Reader: (0bda:0158)
*Not Working

VX800 Graphics:
640x480 & 800x600 @ 256 color,16bpp,32bpp
*No native resolution using Panorama
*Not able to add 1024 600 32 0 to SNAP using gamode with noncert on

USB Touchpad:
Horribly glitchy, impossible to use with AMOUSE
(First time I've ever seen anything like this)
Synaptics Touchpad. Works under Windows/Linux/Haiku without driver

USB Webcam: (eb1a:2771)
eMPIA 2771
*Not working, linux Driver/Source available. Supports many cams.

---------------------
It sorta almost mostly works, and I feel like the Wired and Wireless NIC issues can be worked around as VIA is pretty generous with driver version availability (the files are in folders and don't NEED to be installed and then extracted from a Windows partition) and oftentimes have the full driver source available as well.

The REPORT.txt file was from the RC7 install hardware detection.

Setup & Installation / Re: eCS 2.0 GA - first details

Actually Point 1 should be relevant to you Pete as SeaMonkey still uses the same rendering engine as Firefox and Thunderbird. You are not experiencing the render speed improvements that have been made in the OS/2 branch of the 3.7 firefox port. I hope the author makes these improvements across Thunderbird/SeaMonkey as well later.

1) Nice to hear, but these versions don't have the OS/2 render improvements of the latest branch and will be slow :(

2) Glad to hear migrations work. However, clean install process is still not "easy" on many configurations especially where LVM info does not already exist.

3) Glad to hear Uniaud got some serious code re-work done and has improved. Usually worked well for me though.

4) Never had issues with the ACPI *.wpi packages but I also never checked too deep into it.

5) Sounds like only good things :)

6) AV is always a nice touch, glad to see it included.

Want news on USB Flash drive boot/install, also news on friendliness with SSDs (Aligning Partition/Volume/Filesystem to disk structure to decrease IO load and improve disk performance), and finally, AHCI support.

There is more stuff but that list are the deal-breakers for me right this momment.

Setup & Installation / Re: LVM - the curse of eCS?
« on: 2010.05.06, 17:22:43 »
I'm having some issues with DFSEE and LVM on my netbook. It says that due to the disk structure, it can not attach LVM information because there is no room.

I can not get eCS to read/install to the disk. I've wiped the beginning of the disk, created fresh partitions in DFSEE with LVM info and to no avail.

I'm not sure why the disk is giving me these issues :\

Can  OS/2 boot from a compressed disk image? Perhaps we could have some more work done with DFSEE to allow this.

The DFSEE disk image files compress down brilliantly and would provide the needed engine to accomplish this task properly. Besides, a core version of DFSEE already ships with eCS 2.x for resizing volumes anyway, right?

I've used it previously (back in the 8.xx days), and I use a similar setup for xDSL on my first gen Xbox. It really isn't too much slower at all.

Actually Radek, I'm pretty sure its not a virtual machine.

Works reasonably well. It is a bit slow because it installs it to a compressed disk image so your I/O is going to be affected negatively, but the ease of use and fact that you don't have to use GPARTED (which loves to overlap partition boundaries) makes it all the better.

Storage / Re: JFS eating CPU resources?
« on: 2010.04.28, 23:36:31 »
I've got nothing man. I've only used eCS on an 8gb/2mb and 40gb/8mb IDE drive and in both cases, the drive was pretty much empty. I used JFS on both because it was faster than HPFS (not 386, don't have a license for it) and I didn't notice any slowdown.

Could it be an issue with the drive not having NCQ on and getting the command queue backlogged while seeking the disk?

My only thought is that the kernel and/or JFS.IFS are the debug versions? Maybe the CPU rape is from that? Can you force debugging off or revert to a non-debug/test JFS.IFS?

I've not seen any issues here in VM while using JFS but I'm not using a testcase, just the vanilla one that ships with RC7.

Oh, sorry yeah. You're likely to need the actual extensions updated if you're coming from 3.0.x. But 3.5.x and 3.6.x extensions I've had no issues with.

Only caveat was Flash/Foxit (this is on Win, not sure about OS/2). On Os/2, I don't have any "plugins" other than the flash7 and all my extensions work fine.

Ivan, just get the Nightly Tester Tools addon and then override compatibility. None of your extensions should have any issues.

Yeah, I've been using the 3.7 branch on Windows exclusively since it launched. It is leaps and bounds faster than 3.5.x and 3.6.x and other than some issues with Foxit and Unity it was perfect.

This build is also much, much better than the 3.5.x and 3.6.x releases for OS/2.

I'm loving the scrolling and rendering improvements. I wonder if more magic can be done to get OS/2 to render on par with Linux/Haiku/Windows VESA + Firefox?

A technolo. .. .
This is built off of Libpurple/Pidgin for the protocol stuff, the GUI is all OS/2 native by Marty.

^ It may be their plan, but do we know if they have actually gotten the companies on board, or is the large part of their clientbase end users?
