Tks for info.
I have already tried Peter Moylans FTP Server and it works great so I'll stick to that.
Some time ago I also tried VNC, but had some issues setting it up correctly.
Will give it another try.

I've been using RSM (PolyPM) and Netop for remote control and file transfers, but file transfers with these apps are painfully slow compared to FTP. Netop being the worst even when disabling graphic mode. None of these apps achieves even half the speed of FTP. Besides, development of RSM stopped years ago, and local support of Netop hardly exists when you mention OS/2, even though they still develop the server part.
Would like to know what programs others use for these tasks.

Hi Bob,
Almost got a heart attack when I read your comments about what could cause the problems.
I did bring your thoughts to the attention of the technicians and the problem is now solved.
Dont know for sure exactly where the problem was, but it was a MTU setting on either the Cisco
or a "Patton-box" (for using IP telephony). Based on a reply in one of my other posts, I did mention MTU to the technicians, so we did some tests on the pc's but it did not help.
At least it is nice to know that there was nothing wrong with our network/pc's.
Thanks to all for your input.

Thank you Todd, but after quite some time editing and testing a font file, and trial and error with the accounting apps report builder, I have now achieved a good result. This way I can also easily create PDF's identical to the invoices printed on paper.

Well, with the phrase; have verified that those web sites are up and running, I meant to say that I have connected to the site from another pc, also running eCS and Seamonkey, but with another internet connection and it works fine.
Pls try www.superdekk.no and I think it will load as expected.
After my first post, I tried to load that web page on another pc using the Cisco SDSL and it has the same problems.
Since I also have trouble with file transfers after I got this new Cisco hardware I believe the problem is a configuration issue with the router. I have reported this to those who set it up and they are working on it. So far they haven't found anything wrong, but at least I think that this excludes the pc's/software from being the source of the problems.
Also, everything was working fine with ADSL before it was changed to this SDSL connection.

Not sure how/if this is related to my post "file transfer stops", but now some web pages will not load.
Have verified that those web sites are up and running. Ideas anyone?

Any recommendations for a utility that can automatically close an application if it has been inactive
for a certain amount of time?

Have tried various values but still the same problem. Did report the problem to those who configured the router so
it will be interesting to see what they have to say tomorrow.

Changing nic and driver didn't help at all.

Just remembered that I have installed the new Intel Gigabit driver for my onboard
82566DM-2 gigabit Network Connection. Seems to work fine so far, but I have had
situations where it looks like a web page hangs for a short time when loading.
Have thought that this has been a problem out on the net somewhere, but now I
suspect the new driver. Has anyone had trouble with this driver?
Will switch back to the old nic/driver to see if it solves the problem.

Hello Ivan,

No I have not tried FTP, but will have a look at that.
RSM is nice in the way that I can choose how to connect, either I get the desktop of the remote pc
or I can just use it's FTP capabilities.

If it is a handshake problem, I would believe that I then would have a problem connecting?
As it is now I can connect just fine, both in "desktop mode" and FTP, but during transfer of
file it simply stops after a few minutes.

The SDSL router is a Cisco-something which is set up by a company, by some professionals
I hope :-). Anyway, it has no web interface and far too complicated for me to even think about
any configuration changes.

Talking about speed; remote site has SDSL 4/4Mbit and locally I have ADSL 26/4Mbit.
Max speed I have achieved when transferring a 200MB file using Netop is 95KB/sec and
with RSM 132KB/sec and it's far less than I expected.
I guess in theory this setting should result in max speed of 500KB/sec?

Communication / File transfer stops
2010.08.20, 19:42:55
After changing from ADSL to SDSL at a remote site I now have problems transferring
files. When copying a file from the remote site to my local pc the file transfer stops after
a while. Have not changed any setup, software or hardware other than the router and
an IP address. Sometimes it works for a couple of minutes, and other times up to 7 minutes.
(I'm using the ancient Remote Services Control since it transfers files a lot faster than Netop.)
Any suggestions where to start looking?

Warpcafe, perhaps the result of this project could be something I could use for printing invoices
from Concorde since it has the option to print to "text file". However, in this case I would need a
procedure that "automates" the production of the invoices.

......and if it also would save copies as pdf and possibly email invoices as pdf attachements to
some customers ...... ::)

Utilities / Form Overlay

I've been trying several ways to to get logos printed on invoices produced by Concorde XAL,
and got it to work by changing a font file. However, by using a form overlay I would get better
formatting of the invoices.
The form simply can be created in OpenOffice or WordPro, but how to convert it into an OVL file?
