Lexmark USB should work ok, after running a driver detect program and updating the drivers...the tanks are cheap and there are alot of cross platforms for the no 28 tank in case the printer dies before the tanks empty, some will run w/o the color tank present at all, unlike HPs.
Which virtual pc do you run? (ms 04 or 08) I run a virtual PC on a MAC so I can use older Win9x apps for Networking on ISA/Vesa Machines...

Although many online pros like KimKomando, say to" stay away from Lexmark", I have no commercials, so I use them almost exclusively to $AVE$, Canon are supported too I think...

So in an ideal world, we had an ideal server, whatsup with Tivoli? Understand, I have never tried it, should i be concerned bout using such a thing when I dont really have an enterprise but run several domains and do not need alot of storage?

off topic a bit, :'( however IBM show is continually managing the load toward a lighter more compact payload in anticipation of greater flow/traffic et. al; through the show space in a newer longer version. So, in ot seven we went to smaller carbon footprint-storage off the rack and therefor have surplus drives and server boxes (1U instead if 4-8, as well as MadDog externals on 2.5 drives instead of clunkier IDE drives in NAS BOXES. So in our continued efforts here to scale back and recycle the entire planet if need be, offered is a version 4 mic in " virgin " cond. with original packaging, extra foam etc.

[As you are well aware a WarpMIC goes with the blue spine (full network support) version of Warp4 in 1996 as Voice Recognition Software built in that distro made for a Microphone to become part of the product offering so that the software could "read" your voice and learn so it could respond to your vocal command, whatever, I never did this, so here it is now with a free 200MB IDE 7200rpm 3.5 HDD wiped clean, by MAXTOR in orig box, no MAXTOR didnt wipe it clean I did! Maxtor is the brand of this device].

But wait! ...thats not all folks...Also in this bundle I have some CA and Sytron stuff, optional items to throw in for the lucky new owner of this premo WarpMic; h/she who may want to give it a try as I never have the time to explore/use any of these:

Sytron ProServe CX - NLM Backup for NetWare Inst. Guide and Slick CX Quick Ref. Card
Sytron ProServe CX Disk Pak with Lic. Agreement, sealed this is a demo/eval. version I think w/about 4-5 floppies [3.5] inside

...the preceeding part of this bundle goes back before they even had a corp website, so you nare do well by getting support on a forum or newsgroup for ProServe CX?

also:
CA-dBFast with sealed Computer Associates Dox and sealed floppy pak w/lic printed thereon...

CA-Ret Sealed user guide, no software!

All items clean and in v. good cond.

Make an offer as I have no idea what this is worth but will sell it so as tol save the planet as well as a trip to the county swapshop should any poster here on OS2W need these or has a collection of warpstuff to add to...

PS since I am a bit giddy today myself I'll add one more silly comment as the clock tix away in the Museum of Modern OS/2 Art for Apprentices...I have taken the idea of a 'smart for six' under advisement and have concluded that a stretch version of the smart for two is not a bad idea, assuming I have enough Acetylene left over in the tank from my last rail job project. Once I chopped and chanelled an Opera Cpe ['37 Caddy Series 61-one of six left in '63 so why not?]when i was four-teen in So.Cal- and not much sense or much of a putzer then, as I am now, I had 'visions' of winning the flathead 8 drag mod class at Irwindale Raceway when the thing was finished, since it ran stock LaSalle 3spd toppiing 70 in second gear it seemed like a viable option, the problem was the weight, like the IBM show trailer you imagine? Well, yes but it turned out to be a great street dragster...I could not afford the slicks then, do you think drag slicks appropriate for a 3 cyl car? Maybe an old XT cpe subaru pancake moter could be installed, to double the cylinder count, for more torque to tow the longer/heavier IBM show trailer that is w/o so much cheeeeese onboard ...:) 8)   do you subaruwho? If anyone owns a redbook for the WarpMic please let me know.

OS/2 C++ is now here! I.E. _VISUAL AGE for OS/2_ item is sealed in orig. cello on CD, Version 3, with a copyright date as: '89-`95  as I recall; I apologize in advance here as there are no printed dox or manuals, please pm MZ if you have questions or need more info on this (or on the RACK)...BTW, since there are no dox, the CD label declares that IBMs reader software and the like can be ripped from the CD and used to read the doc files for C_++ V3 on the CD, or as you please installed on your drive...as usual there are always bonuses for this purchase...
S&H will be around $4 USD and here at IBM show we only ship UPS with signature to lower 48.
thx,

Consolidation story was interesting, esp the part where the copy refers to Windows as the INDUSTRY STANDARD, I object to this notion, I remember that day in August, near Towson MD at the now defunct Computer City, lines wraped around the parking lot; down the road apiece even longer lines wrapped along the store fronts nxt to/going into COMP USA, also now defunct, gee what a great effect this standard has had over the ensuing years on the big box stores, anyone got some industry standard rangeland for sale near Austin?

besides the mobile PC I also have a rack server box FOR SALE with an ASUS X series mATX board with an AMD CPU installed, this black rack box comes with CD Rom version of OS2 ver3; an external USB drive by Maxtor - 80GB, an IBM kybd and mouse, some DDR Ram installed - there are only two slots on the micro mobo, each has one stick of DDR ram; 512MB total; there's also a card reader installed in a 3.5in bay - but I don't know how to get OS2 to talk to the card reader, ooops...ver 3 is in the orig. box, blue spine with bonus pak! PM me if you might be interested...
thx, MZ

ASAP SAB but No, this time, I will not be towing the trailer across the bearing straights in the dead of winter with a smartfor-two, at least not yet; yes OS2 could go international someday, it would be forced to by the open source people, once it is found out the Windows was actually coded by the same guy who has all that money in Fr Guiana, just waiting to deposit some in your account soon after you make yo 10k deposit in his...
The Nitro tows IBM show pretty good but please note, for just this Fall in 08 I will be keeping the tire pressure up all round to 40psi+, just to make it clear I am in favor of lower JP4 prices...:)albeit no longer a green guy just blue!

FYI try getting an old fallback system and put it on a network; like an olde dot matrix with a 5150 on eBay,
IBM sold some kewl pcs and networking stuff in the early to mid 80's-terminal emulation programs too and you did not have to use drivers, just type "PRINT"!  Oh, well if you need photos you could use OS2 Warp Connect 3
with most any serial printer using a straight through 25 pin or even a direct straight through CAT5 cable...some thoughts, I have an older HP USB you can have, it needs a b*w cart and is easy to use, with ECs.l
\\about the ink jets in general- like so many PC printers that are modestly priced models
until you factor in the tank usage, and I quote:

::"...An inkjet printer is not so much a printer as it is an ink vending machine..."

TO LIGHTEN THE LOAD HERE, ((MZ'S gettin' old!)) I would consider donating everything except the lighting; cases and shelfware...I do have other interests. which require a much bigger trailer'tow vehicle:  sequencers like Sequential out of S.F., Frisco Sound. mini moog, early midi stuff et al. The IBM show is getting old now too, most people do not even know what OS/2 is anymore, that is not a political statement, i.e., -its been my own personal experience within the last five or so years, unfortunately for me, WINDOZE seems to be the only OS around that is commonly used; I tutor using the PC for seniors, and supply computers at entry level so they can get started without going to the big box stores, these people are on fixed incomes, when in fact they are totally computer illiterate as is so often the case and well as said by them they are not timid about it, viz.,, this old guy donated some old stuff to us recently for the show and to recycle and off the cuff I asked: "I guess these boxes have a command line interface on them, right? (being they were so old I guess is why I brought it up...) "Whatsa command line?" he said.  This guy was from Hopkins, SO, the ans is YES I have alot to donate to museums at this point; over the last two years I have recycled over 250 early IBM PCs and could scale back even more...logistics is a problem now as I no longer rent storage space?

OOOPS! )RE: My Mobile PC, Viz Gateway Notebook AD, it sold already so I pulled the part of this post referring to this...( ... still on Kijiji Frederick if you are interested in seeing pix of the unit, God could you please set gateway free:? "itsa WINDOZE based machine... {"maybe now, finally its an OS/2 warp candidate visa vi Walmart sells PCs with Linux why not OS2 ver 9? open sourced that it~}"

::on notebookreview online[ http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3775] I read recently that Ubuntu installs on this lap[mobile pc] BUT the unit has problems with internet via the NIC or by other means like the modem, pcmcia data or whatever...once Ubuntu is booted::

Gee couldnt they just have used IBM TCP/IP?

pls see my ADvert. for Ver3 Visual Age...

thx a heap for the info on the server install/ monitoring the Netfinity hardware/cpu loads, that will be
interesting to use once its all up and running; as far as software I have a heap of disks that I guess have no importance here; but I have presentation manager, token ring manager and stuff on IBM floppies, if its of any use to anyone, I no longer show or display them; will post on the website in the slide show just for/as memorabilia...the link you corrected I tried this AM, the browser spins and spins on my G3 connection and never connects...maybe the server there has no load balancing  or has no local DNS turned on?

Many kudos for your guidance here Robert and taking the time...!

QUOTE fr RobertM { "I had Intellistations that the BIOS got updated on which could support the difficult to find 1.1GHz P3 Xeon's, while my Netfinity 7000 M10 BIOS was only upgraded to support 550MHz P3 Xeon's - which is the place where the CPU core changed) ...}" May I ask a silly question here and thanks for the compliments on the M20 box, ok the 550 Mhz cpus match FSB of the board in situ, right? So when Intel doubled the speed of the PIII  by design of the core to a 1.1gig, you have to swap out the mobo respective of that-[Ive been told that many people who still use PIIIs as higher speed downscale servers for print and lan servers on the bottom end of their hardware spectrum instead of throwing them out in the dumpster; we did this at the base for the ACOE before eventually scrapping everything when our contract ran out...] I'd like to raise the speed instead of maxing out Ram, which I do have; ultimately I would have a server for IBMshow that would dazzle the kids...but as it turns out I wont make WarpStock :(tears tears)

also to quote you: {"You also may wish to install the Netfinity Manager software on the machine... it's a pretty nice little machine, and a machine IBM Certified for OS/2.e..."} and I suppose this will help the old machine along too, heard of but never used Netfinity Manager on the beast...

Excellent, will execute the OS/2 Warp Server Advanced V4 with SMP postehaste and deal with SATA issues later, I had no idea that Warp would work with anything above 468 on Asus period, and I am not surprised the quad cpu board could take on Warp without a hitch, will report back, I know this thing -5500- is old but it will be fun before trying to get up to speed on modern resources like dual cores et al...maybe when I do get to that point it will be time to move on, to ECs that is...I guess I could make a boot partition that allows Warp, Ubuntu, Madriva, UNIX with VM ware running the whole show, eh...?

Many thanks again for the inspiration RobertM, now I will be perspiring for a day or so...but not because of the heat!

this may confirm that MS is still at it, as Robert claims, blocking any netbios/tcp/ip from working with layers/ports or whatever, in other systems, esp those based on ECs/Warp and 'other derivatives of UNIX'...sounds like calculus here maybe I should stay away from integrals I dont understand, but just to cover the full spectrum of PITA modes, sounds like something is dark at MS, to squelch any handshake by having inserted some kind of weird code to block anything that smacks of making apache work, or ? anything " for that matter in opensource that would otherwise work with dwindoze...hemmmmmmmmm; I wish I was a real programmer, its frustrating to hear all this and have nothing substantial to add here but I do find this all very interesting, esp netbios; I bet someone here will post a workaround sooner than we may all expect, maybe [just a stab at it] it is just shared folders that netbios cant use when it comes to a port from the Vista OS looking at the ECs machines port or the other way around: the future is here, here's hoping...|:]

I FOUND THIS :  "A network operating system from Microsoft that runs as a server application under OS/2. It supports DOS, Windows and OS/2 clients. LAN Manager was superseded by Windows NT Server, and many parts of LAN Manager are used in Windows NT and 2000. See LAN Server" :FR: http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/Microsoft+LAN+Manager

and this which is also implying that its all so easy to connect: "These systems are just two members of a rather large family that also includes Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft LAN Manager for OS/2, IBM LAN Server, Digital Equipment Corp.'s PathWorks for VMS, a variety of freeware ports of SAMBA, and LAN Manager for Unix (available from Hewlett-Packard Co., NCR Corp., The Santa Cruz Operation and others). Even Novell has an offering that enables NetWare servers to interact with these LAN Manager-based workgroup products." ::FR::
http://whitepapers.silicon.com/0,39024759,60007178p,00.htm

on this topic I like to read more at the site: http://www.jacco2.dds.nl/samba/lanman.html

I thought netbeui was basically an early PC networking protocal that isnt used any longer with all these lan managers for Novell and the like...my self i like to just connect with a straight RJ45 confiqured [wired] as a serieal connector and use the command line with llc.exe on both machines; an early version of 'laplink', I tried this app in OS/2 ver 3 and win 3.1 and it worked w/o netbios enabled on either...so maybe netbeui was...i always have trouble messing with registry keys, scares me to even think about tweaking hastalavista, its so intimidating compared to warp ...
