There should be no problem with ecs if you are using a second physical disk, just boot from the cd, make sure you install boot manager on the second disk, partition it as you like (up to 2 Gb for system, the remainder can be as large as you like).
There should be others here that can tell you the exact procedure, I'm not sure as I only have os/2 and not ecs, but on one of my computers I have WSEB, OS/2 Warp4, Open SUSE 11 and Open DOS all bootable via boot manager. I also have win2k in virtualpc and win xp in virtualbox, the latter two so I can help clients with their problems.
