I believe that the line number discrepancy is caused, because OS/2 actually reads the CONFIG.SYS multiple times, selecting different types of entries, on each pass, and counting the lines as it executes them.The result is, that what it has counted, bears no relation to the line number in CONFIG.SYS.
It may help, if you told us, exactly, what audio adapter you have. PCI.EXE, from HOBBES, should show the information.
