That information says you have an irq conflict.  Rem out the null mac driver in config.sys then try to boot.

hehe, after I remmed out that it hangs at the second last one: C:\IBMCOM\PROTOCOL\NETBIOS.OS2

??? No lucky break for me!  ???

the first thing I notice is that while you apparently have 6 UHCI controllers, there's "only" 5 USBUHCD drivers in your config.sys... maybe you simply pasted too few lines in the post, also - anyway - I don't think it would cause such problems to have 1 driver too *few* loaded. Wink

You are 100% correct, I forgot to add the 6th one. All of them are on-board.

My best guess is that you should check if the machines BIOS perhaps has an option to assign IRQs to the USB controllers (are these onboard controllers?). If so, set it to yes. I had experienced problems in the past when trying to run USB in OS/2 using "IRQ-free" options in the BIOS setup.

There are no options in the BIOS for IRQ assignment on USB port (Only serial and parallel)

Next item on my "let's see what happens if..." list would be to make OS/2 boot with the USB stick attached to the port. I don't think it makes a difference as this is usually done to overcome Warp not being able to access the USB drive. Here, the problem is different as the driver does not even load.

No change with the USB Stick in

How do I check the current version of Warp as well as the current FixPak installed?

The first thing you need to do is remove the /req: usbuhcd$, usbohcd$, usbehcd$ from the usbd.sys line. According to the Dec. 2005 usbbasic readme that is generally not needed.

I've removed those and get the same problem

Please note guys: This exact image of OS/2 I'm using here works with USB drivers installed on another model of Lenovo PC's which isn't available any more. That is why I'm trying to get USB working on this model.

To make sure to actually find the cause, press Alt + F2 when the system is booting (in the very moment when the white square in upper left corner of the screen is displayed - the so-called "boot blob"). This will display the drivers names, perhaps this reveals more information.

ALT + F2 reveals that the USBUHCI drivers load fine and it eventually hangs at IBMCOM\MACS\NULLDIS.OS2 which is the LAN driver I believe. (I'm unable to find LAN drivers for this model as well so using the NULL drivers is the only alternative)

Hi Guys,

I'm struggling with USB support on OS/2 Warp 3. (Mounting a Flash Stick)
(I can't upgrade to Warp 4 or eCom because of other legacy issues)

More on the Lenovo M57:

# Q35 North Bridge - Intel 82Q35 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)
# ICH9 South Bridge - 82801IO ICH9DO I/O Controller Hub

Every time I install USBBASIC on the OS the PC hangs on the next reboot.

From the USBBasic.txt:

So I assume this is a relatively new driver.

After executing the USBINST.EXE the following gets added to the bottom of the config.sys:
Quote
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$
BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS

The system hangs just before entering OS/2 GUI.
I've left it on overnight with no luck of it going any further.

HCIMONIT picks up the following:

You have 6 PCI USB UHCI host controller(s)
You have 2 PCI USB EHCI host controller(s)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Charl
