Networking / Followup to Thinkpad not getting DHCP connection to router
« on: 2009.07.03, 01:11:48 »
ok, checked some things, still not getting a valid connection from the thinkpad. All my other computers connecting through the router fine.
The router's configuration status page shows the Thinkpad's NIC is connecting at 10mbps at half duplex. I went into MPTS and entered in full duplex in the proper field. No change.
I cannot tx or rx pings on the thinkpad either. I can ping 127.0.0.1 however.
I did ifconfig lan0 192.168.1.66 but that did not help any.
I manually entered in an IP in the TCPIP config notebook, but that did not work either.
Summarizing lantran.log, it says the NIC is detecting cable type:
the media detected: 10baseT
Full Duplex mode (selected)
IO mode enabled
SYS0318 message file \MPTN.MSG cannot be found for message 0003.
Adaptor 0 is using node address 0004AC1AC45A. The token ring format is 00203558235A.
I'm thinking the half duplex issue is the problem. One concern is that there's a program called LANAID for this NIC that's supposed to be run to set it up. I execute it according to the readme file, detects I'm running OS2 but it just says to run MPTS to configure the NIC and then no option but to exit. Maybe the NIC is locked in half duplex mode for some reason?
