Hello Andy,

sounds like a much needed tool. Would you mind posting a compiled version for us mortals to test? :)

Thanks,

I also downloaded it, just to have a look. It seems it should work fine, when you read the install requirements:

* In order to use the NolaPro Web Installer, you need to have Apache 1.3.x or 2.x running as well as PHP 4.4 or higher installed.

However, two things are against us:

- it needs the Zend optimizer (possibly just for some plugins; but it states "necessary for running encrypted NolaPro pages") which just isn't available for eCS
- it needs the setting of a variable that is only available in PHP 5 (register_long_arrays) although, this may not be as showstopperr, it does block the installer.

As I don't use PHP 5 yet on my local test setup, I couldn't install it. But I guess it should work fine. It goes well with the AMP4eCS project (http://www.amp4ecs.de/)
After reading some support forums of NolaPro, I think the Zend Optimizer is a real requirement, so it will be a no go, until that is available.

  Please, test if OpenChat/2 works.

Since I added the following line to my config.sys I have had no more issues running OpenChat/2:

DLLBASING=ON

This is what configtool (http://www.os2world.com/goran/cfgtool/cfgdat05.htm) has on it:

==
The dllbasing parameter prevents fragmentation of the shared environment, allowing more efficient use of virtual memory. The dllbasing parameter may be set to ON or to OFF. If dllbasing is set to ON, then the system will attempt to honor the base addresses (preferred load addresses) for DLLs. Honoring base addresses for DLLs is preferred because it improves system performance for loading DLLs. However, sometimes there is an interaction between the DLL basing and an application's memory usage which will cause the system to run out of private memory. In this case, you should set dllbasing to OFF so that the system will ignore base addresses for DLLs. The system performance for loading DLLs may degread marginally, but there will be more free private memory.

General Discussion / Re: eCS RC6a is out

The a denotes a differentiation from the Warpstock Europe release.  There were a few things fixed since the Warpstock release, though what they were I am not sure.

Correct 'RC6' was released at Warpstock Europe 2008 and on the TeamTrier DVD, RC6a is a public release.
Main difference is: re-enabled APM for ACPI, updated ACPI, updated diskchecker.

Unfortunately a new error has popped up - selecting static TCPIP configuration will break the installer. As a workaround, select DHCP and use tcpcfg2.cmd after installation is finished to change this.

Has anyone tried to verify the checksums ? I am pretty sure that my zip was downloaded correctly, and yet the checksum does not match the included one. The checksum also refers to RC6 and not RC6a, so they may have forgotten to change the md5 files (when they changed from RC6 to RC6a) before uploading the files. However, I'd like to know if anyone succeeded in matching these checksums...

You're right, the ISO file was renamed after the creation. Corrected now :)
