Networking / DHCP release/renew in OS/2 Warp
« on: 2009.02.27, 18:55:30 »
Is there a way from an os/2 warp prompt to release and renew a dhcp address.  Linux has several different ways of doing this depending on the distro, ie.dhcp or dhcpcd.  in windows it would be ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew.  How can I do that on an OS/2 warp machine?

Networking / SIOCADDRT: network is unreachable
« on: 2009.02.17, 18:23:10 »
We recently had some subnet changes which affected the dhcp server at my location.  Now when I startup my OS/2 machine it hangs at a black screen saying dhcp failed and then this error pops up:

"SIOCADDRT: Network is Unreachable
Press Enter to Continue..."

Nothing happens if I press enter, I cannot load the OS to change any network settings.  I can boot into dos and have access to the d:\ drive which is root for os/2.  I have been looking through the different ini files trying to find out how to maybe disable dhcp through the command line so the os will boot.  I've looked through the IBMLAN and TCPIP folders and can't find anything.  Does anyone know how to bypass that error to get the OS to load so I can check out the network settings?

I have seen this post (http://www.os2ezine.com/20000716/homenet.html) but it looks as if he is able to press <enter> after the error displays and have the OS boot, I unfortunately am unable to do this, it just hangs at the error and never boots after pressing <enter>
