Communication / Re: Chat client that supports MSN
« on: 2008.04.04, 15:48:56 »
Didn't know about this MSN client, but now trying. Found the 1.8 version here: http://www.andreas-peters.net/95-0-mercury-msn-messenger-v--1-8-0.html and it seems to work fine with innotek java also.

I would say that the best client I've used is Jeti/2. It also seems to support voice chat now (Google Talk?) but I haven't tried that out. Psi, delivered with eCS is simpler but ok. Buddyspace is a third one which I haven't tried out but which seems to work. All three are jabber-clients.

Setup & Installation / Re: DVDDAO and eCS
« on: 2008.03.30, 12:35:01 »
This is not really an answer to your question, but for me a problemfree way to burn dvd:s has bees to use:

CDrecord/2 2.0
Audiocdcreator 0.56
using aspirouter

in combination with dvddao 1.0

Haven't tried escshemes for a long time, due to to much trouble. Now I've run the 1.46 release for about 2-3 weeks, with no trouble except from initial ones, which still always seems to be there. Ok..now I also installed wpswizard 0.6 1 a3 upon that and the combination really seems to work fine.

Well back to numbers again, this is my timings on LG22PTV centrino dual core 1.75Ghz:

                     winXP      eCS RC4

OO 1:st      10 sec      5 sec   (preload)
OO 2:nd      2 sec      2 sec   (preload)

OO 1:st          18 sec          29 sec (no preload)
OO 2:nd         4 sec            20 sec (no preload)

As you see on my system OO in XP is faster than OO in eCS if not preloaded, but slower if preloaded.

And thanks to you for scanning the whole magazine! It was quite a cool paper, fun to see. This magazine once or twice a year wouldn't be bad.

NO idea how to upload to the library. Care to explain?
Hi,
haven't done it myself, but it seems like you do like this:
  • First you have to be logged in
  • Then in library section, choose a category, "other parties" maybee??
  • Press, "submit a new document" and follow the steps.

CTorrent DNH221,   http://www.eros2.info/download/ctorrent-dnh221.zip  :

" Features

The purpose of the Enhanced CTorrent effort is to fix problems that
remain in the code, modernize existing features and algorithms, and
implement new features while maintaining low overhead requirements and
a high standard of performance (both part of the original CTorrent
design philosophy). Highlights of the enhanced client include:
     * Support for large files (>2GB) and large torrents (>255 files)
     * Strategic selection of pieces to request for download
     * Continuous queueing of download requests, tuned based on latency
       and throughput for each peer
     * Improved download performance, including parallel requests in
       initial and endgame modes
     * Improved bandwidth regulation
     * Improved compatibility with other peers
     * Performance optimization and bug fixes
     * An interface for monitoring and managing multiple clients"

My favourite program for the time being is GIMP - where Alex Taylor have put together a complete warpin pack, which you find here: http://www.cs-club.org/~alex/os2/utils/index.html . Use it together with hoblinkX11 delivered with CD2 in eCS 1.2.  Works seemless and works very well.

I don't know how these big guys are thinking, but I guess it would have a greater impact if Serenity could talk to them. They could at least claim they have "that many" users and "that many" corporative users and so on.

Hmm, okay, that is interesting. I have to find a computer on my network that is always on then. I also have to get their IP addy, which I don't have. What if both addresses I specify are not online? Do I get no LAN results?

Thought about that to and I don't have an answer. Just fumbling.
