Maybe show up at Warpstock (among other places) and hand out OS/2 Redbooks on cd-rom? :p

Thomas,

Nice find! Now, how to figure out how to cough up the bones to pay for it. I like the PayPal option. Have to come back when I got some more mullah (need more money for gas right now).

James

BWG,

My guess is that it is Windows cr@p and pirated at that. No doubt there is probably some spyware in it too. What I would like to see is a port of the following ...

I put the @ sign in front of the commands to hide them.

It's 16-bit. It's a shell (wrapping paper). Don't confuse it with the WPS. I think it is on Hobbes already. I remember using it 10 years ago to see how it worked. I removed it.

Hardware / Re: Lan - How to reset?
2008.02.08, 05:18:50
Hi Dave,

Maybe do a "ipconfig /release" followed by a "ipconfig /renew". If that doesn't work, don't use DHCP and use static IP addressing.

Doesn't firewire have a relationship to SCSI (IIIE ...)? If yes, should firewire be easy to port, etc. to eCS?

GRUB is pretty powerfull and has options to do a lot of things. It is also well documented with source code. I suspect it could be made to be used with the ThinkPad button ...

I would have liked to see a low-cost version based on a fully-patched version of OS/2 Warp version 3. It wouldn't include USB, JFS, or other features to compete with eCS. Would have been nice to have had an OS/2 Warp Gold version. Enough for people to relive the excitement of OS/2 in it's heyday, and most importantly priced low-enough to lure in newbies. Toss in a free compiler (GNU or OpenWatcom), put a candle on it, and celebrate the good times again.  :P

How about donating to netlabs.org?

USB / Re: AMD TV Tuner and eCS?

I am using a non-OS dependent box to display TV on my computer monitor:

It is called, "KWorld TVBox 1440ex". The only issue with this device is that it is analog only, meaning that when analog signals are no longer being broadcast, you have a nice paperweight. However, if you use cable TV anyway, then this would not be an issue.

http://www.kworld.com.tw/product_overview.aspx?P_id=15 If you want to check it out. Personally, I wish I would have got the one with a digital receiver. Hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it? I do like the ability for PIP (Picture in Picture) and being able to switch to full screen. It can also be connected to a DVD player, which can accept a 480P signal, instead of broadcast 480i, which can be grainy.

At one of the Warpstock Americas, there was one mentioned a wifi device that was portable, connected to the ethernet port and was powered by the usb port. I am looking on the internet but totally forgot what it was called. Any help given will be appreciated. What was it called? ??? It would be easier than trying to get my wifi pc card working.    8)

BWG,

Maybe you are thinking of a WiFi Game Adapter that plugs into your ethernet port? This will allow anything to connect to your wireless hub, as long as it has an ethernet port.

I have a wifi pc card in my Thinkpad eCS pc. It shows at boot up that no irq is set. What would be the way to get it to set to an irq? ??? What settings in config.sys could be added to get it to set it?  ???

BWG,

Did you install the supplied drivers? driver installation usually includes setting resources, etc. ???

I'm on the OS/2 machine and I have the SAMBA client installed. The dialog to use a drive has the following parameters.

Workgroup:
Server:
Share:
User:
Password:
Master: [ Server | Workgroup ]
(name of the master):
memory buffer:
logfile:
log level:
ea support:

Obviously, I need to log in. The netdrive interface to SAMBA isn't really offering that. Does anyone have any suggestions for the parameters listed above?

Neil

Neil,

Has the client been created on the Active Directory? I think that should be done 1st.
