Hello everyone!

I have VX-REXX... and I seem to recall that someplace there were updates and addons that:
(1) enabled Warp 4 style (colored top) tabs in notebooks
(2) enabled all sorts of other neat controls (different progress bars, different data fields, etc)

Does know where I can find such (if they exist - it mighta been the other Visual Rexx I am thinking of)? I've found fixes and patches on Hobbes... could they be there, or are those just fixes and patches as the description implies?

Also, are there any other add-ons or updates besides those that I should be aware of?

I've got a full boxed version of VX-REXX v2.

Thanks for your help!
Robert

I also have a VX-Rexx Client/Server 2.1 to be installed, and;
hopefully there will be no conflict with the current eComStation.

At Hobbes, there might be something else to consider...
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-browse?sh=1&dir=//pub/os2/dev/rexx/patches
where patches go 2.1A to 2.1B to 2.1C to 2.1D.

Hobbes "VX-Rexx" search...

Hi Terry, Ive got all the patches... havent installed them yet though. Beisdes fixing things, do you know of any added functionality in them? (cant get to that machine for a few days to try them - and would like to find anything else I should install beforehand so I have them all in hand when I get to it).

Thanks,
Robert

I'm also going to be a little while before getting to the VX-Rexx install...

[1] Laptop - Wiping Vista to a fresh install with eComStation and WIn XP as guests under Virtual PC 2007.
VX-Rexx will be installed here - along with DB2, DBExpert, Approach, and; ReportSmith in eCS/Win 3.1.
Occupation-related software require Vista, or XP, but not most of my database requirements.

[2] Desktop - New barebones system will be installed with VX-Rexx lessons learned from the laptop install.

I am hopeful that the 2.1 A-D patches will be all that is necessary to work properly.

One reason I am looking forward to VX-Rexx is that it is one of the very few ways to "get inside SQL" on the OS/2 chassis.  Douglas Clark's superb OS/2 eZine series - "ODBC on OS/2" - highlights SQL database access under VX-Rexx as one of the few bonafide SQL solutions under OS/2 (and eComStation).

"ODBC on OS/2 - Part 12"...

"There are two products for Rexx that provide access to ODBC databases, neither of which is sold anymore: VX-Rexx and VisPro-Rexx. There is currently no method for getting at ODBC data apart from those two products. However the is a library of data access routines called RexxSQL put out by Mark Hessling that provide a common (though not ODBC) interface to DB2, Oracle, mSQL, mySQL, and SQL Anywhere."

Well, so far, unpatched, it is working for me (though I havent done much with it yet).

Using RxSQL regularly (Paul has an updated version someplace that runs with MySQL v5) - hadnt even thought about using ODBC via VX-REXX (thanks for bringing that up). Will be giving that a try as well.

Do you know what the advantages of each method are? My current problem is all my setups require C-REXX (instead of OREXX) because of memory leak issues and speed issues... I am also wondering what capabilities I will end up losing due to that.
