I have installed OS/2 Warp Server C-Pak2 for e-business in Microsoft Virtual PC.

But I do not know how to config network.

I can not browse internet in os/2.

How can I do?

Hi,

not sure, I haven't spent too much time in VPC once I discovered how to run VirtualBox... I guess if it works at all, you will have to install the guest additions (?). Either there is a special network adapter available (something that reads like "VPC"...) or it goes by installing an AMD NIC. Either other way, there also needs to be some kind of setup to be done outside the virtual machine to tell VPC how that NIC inside the machine is connected with the host hardware... best guess is to use NAT if that is available.

Sorry, this is all I can tell without having a MS VPC installation... hope it helps anyway.

Cheers,
Thomas

For a start read the information provided by IBM.

Open 'Assistance Center' - click on 'tasks' then MPTS configuration guide.  With that open select 'Attended installation and configuration' then 'configuring MPTS' - read and then ask questions.

You will also need to do the TCP/IP configuration as necessary - enable the interface and select fixed IP or DHCP.

If necessary I will produce a step by step instruction set for you when I get a little time to myself.

As Thomas has said you need to be able to access the NIC driver - if you are using MS VPC 2007 then that will be the DEC 21140A.  This must be available via a floppy or CD.

The network card emulated by the VPC is Intel 2104x/2114x (DEC, as writes ivan, is the same driver but you will be offered Intel by the network installer). The driver is on your installation CD. Another such driver is a part of VPC additions. Result: if you install the driver and then you install additions, you will have two copies of the driver in your config.sys . This does not make problems but you'd better cancel one copy of the driver from your config.sys . Install DHCP connection, you don't need to specify other conditions.
Whether you'll be able to connect to the network depends on your network provider. Note that your VPC is another client on his web and that he can refuse it a connection. If he allows you on the web then you get a valid IP and so on. Another possibility is smuggling yourself on the web and pretending that your VPC is your "real" machine. IIRC, you need to name yourself the same way as is your login name on your real machine and name your computer the same way as is your domain name. This can be detected and it depends on the level of amateurism of your network provider whether it will pass.
The connection from the VPC works. I was connected (smuggled in) to the web from my VPC for a long time  ;D

Hello,
I did a test recently but had a problem which seems to not be fixed under windows VPC.
I was unable to have both windows and ecs under VPC access to internet at the same time. only one could work at a one time (ecs or windows). Used VPC network defined as NAT interface and eCS TCPIP IP adresse changed to use a fixed IP@ + 255.255.255.0 mask.
