Greetings,

I want to get beyond a dialup line for internet access.

Where I live DSL and cable are not options.

A company provides 2-way satellite access.  The service is called 'Wildblue'

Is anyone a current customer of Wildblue?  There webpage is at www.wildblue.com

Thanks,
Dave

Glenn

I've used Wildblue a little. I have only tested it with a wifi router between the wildblue's modem and my OS/2 box. Works fine. NOTE - with satellite, you are looking at very slow latencies. Forget about VPN. Forget about online gaming. Forget about responsiveness while browsing. I tried a few AJAX pages (google maps mainly) - it was a painful experience.

Good luck, and don't throw your POTS modem out yet.

Glenn,
Thanks for the feedback.  I'll be cautious -

Much as I'd enjoy faster speed, I do believe 'if it isn't broke, don't fix it'
