I am a registered Pixel owner, I am also a photographer who would like to edit in OS/2 instead of Windows.  I had high hopes for pixel but after delay after delay I have given up.  There is more wrong with this app then SDL problems.

Well, I was able to find some limitations (no working screen capture, for example), but no crashes until now.
I was coping with several problems regarding screen redraw, but they were solved with the latest SDL release (released yesterday), at least in this machine (running Panorama driver, where SDL uses VMAN to manage graphics now).
Also, I registered this application, and a friend of mine also registered. The price is not big and I believe the author would care more for OS/2 version if there are more registered OS/2 users. Besides, the registration is valid for all systems (Win, OS/2, Linux, Mac...) and this is very nice. I do not expect to give up OS/2 or eCS, but I like multiplataform apps, so I can use the software wherever I go (even on my wife's WinXP machine, for example).

But I am interested on Pixel problems. If they are SDL/2 problems, I will see what can I do. If they are Pixel specific problems, I will see if I can poke Pixel's author. :P

Nonetheless, as a "one-man project", Pixel seems really impressive to me.

  My kindest regards.

Also I am a registered user and I think that quite a few OS/2 users are. I think it's Pavel's way to handle his costumers - disregarding he's alone or not - that have made people to just stop showing interest. And of course lack of progress on our platform and degradation from being one of all builds to being "highly experimental" ones. The interest has been there, but has in much disappeared.

Anyway its good to hear that you made some success on your own and with the new SDL release.

Yes, Pixel would be great if there weren't that much bugs. It's not just the eCS Version that has a lot of problems.
Last year I tried the "new" version released for Windows and that one was also not usable at all.
Very simple operations didn't work and yes the lack of interest is indeed because Pavel promised to release something for month and then broke every date he promised to deliver.
The other famous problem with Pavel is that he seem to like new features...if only he would fix old problems first. :-|

I still hope Pavel will work on more stable versions and then release a new version for all platforms using the latest SDL for eCS.

Juergen

I bought it, found it somewhat useful when I installed it on my laptop to test, decided I wanted to install it on something more powerful than a PII 233MHz 220MB (RAM) system and tried installing it on my desktop - it refused to take the key to activate it.

I sent a couple emails asking for help and gladly offering to uninstall the copy I was not using on my laptop, and received no reply of any kind... that is about when I gave up on Pixel. That there were no OS/2 updates since that long-ago release just helped reinforce that decision...

I'm now playing with ImageEditor, which is done by an author who is both quick to respond and helpful (see this forum thread - http://www.os2world.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,63/topic,730.msg3820/topicseen,1/#new):

I am still hoping that Pixel gets fixed and updated for OS/2 sometime soon - but I am no longer holding my breath. One can hope though...
