I'm posting this question here to keep it all in 1 thread.

Anyway, I loaded the OS/2 Warp 4 image into a virtual PC instance and it runs just fine.  Now I need to "install virtual machine additions" in the virtual Pc software in order to allow the virtual OS/2 to share a folder with the host system (I need to dump data out of the DB2 database).  To do this, the virtual OS/2 needs to be at fixpack15.  I loaded that ok.  I install the virtual machine additions and on reboot it pukes with error c0000005 in DOSCALL1.DLL.  After much searching and investigating, I found I could press ALT-F2 at reboot and see the dlls as they are loaded.  Turns out this line in config.sys is the culprit:
device=c:\os2\install\preload\prel_img.sys c:\os2\install\preload\welcome.rgb 5
Commenting it out allows it to boot and share the folder just fine.

Am I ok leaving this commented out?  What is prel_img.sys?  Loads a picture into memory?  It appears to be displaying a welcome screen so who cares, right?  I just want to make sure this is not a sign of a bigger issue.

Thanks a million!

Gary
