Hi,

Could that indicate the wrong Danis drivers made it to hard disk?

Yeah, that's exactly what I think too.

Never had to include any extra drivers during an eCS install but there must be some way of getting eCS Installer to add them - possibly in the CD pre-boot menu options.

Exact. But that can be hard to do unless you have a "real" floppy drive (which I -however- think there is in Saijin-Naib's case). A different (yet "cleaner") solution would be to modify the ISO of the install CD, however that again is a PITA as well. ;)
The whole situation as described by Saijin_Naib makes me remember the side-effects that happened sometimes with modifying the 3 install floppies back in the Warp3/Warp4 days...

@Saijin_Naib:
OK, now with 3 people all having the same suspicions... it might be time to check the drivers that are on your hard disk. :)

Cheers,
Thomas

Ah  ...... this might actually be a kernel incompatibility, my 7xxx series Compaq computers all run any OS/2 version up to and including 452 and ECS 1.2 but will not run the 2x series due to the newer kernel

What I did was to install 1.2 refresh on them and then hand install the updates that come with 2x

Note also if your Compaq has a S3 video card like most of that vintage did you are better off with the original drivers or a very early copy of SNAP, the S3 installer is buggy and you will need to edit the vga file by hand to change the refresh rates, apart from that ECS runs like a champ on those old monsters ........

Thanks guys, this is on hiatus for a bit until I get back home to test stuff out. I left the laptop home when I went back to uni last week.

Oli, I have a NeoMagic MagicGraph 128xd video chipset, not sure if that is based upon S3 technology but SNAP 3.18 works great on it.

Could it be possible to put in the older kernel files AND the older DANIs drivers on the 2.0RC6a CD and make a special Craptop build? Or will that break 10 types of stuff?

It should be possible to create a "backdated" CD - Sorry, "Craptop build".

As to whether that will break anything else: Hopefully not *but* As the Bishop said to the Actress "You will have to suck it and see"  :-)
