Hi,

the development of the Digitzier Driver for eCS is making progress. YOu can
watch a demovideo here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7wUQo3WD8A

Sorry for the bad quality, I do have to get a better camera, but at least the
picture is not bouncing that much, so I do make progress.

Comment in German but I guess one can see what I try to explain.

The video will be replaced by one with a better quality later.

Enjoy

Hi Sigurd,

this is AWESOME. Thanks for sharing!
BTW: Does it "only" work with a pen/stylus... or does the driver support fingertip operation too? (Or is this a touchpanel limit of the Thinkpad, so to say "pen only by design"?)

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thoams,

I did explain some things here:

http://www.os2.de/forum/diskussion/index.php3?id=128632

Sorry that is in German, but I guess for the others it might be read- and understandable via Google Translator.

Thanks for your reply!

Hi all, for those interested, here's a reviewed translation of Sigurds update at de.os2.org:

Hi,

FYI: The pen is now working correctly with the most important functions. The adjustment is more accurate, the "right mouse click" now also works as desired when the middle button of the stylus is clicked. The behavior has become even more accurate and far better than in the video. It really runs snappy in tablet mode, I do not need the mouse :-)

A general explanation:

Pen (a.k.a. stylus) support basically consists of two drivers:

First, there is XSMOUSE.SYS that has been written by Wim Brul from the Netherlands. That driver (in its latest version as by the course of this development) is available via hobbes download. This driver creates the basic prerequisites to intercept mouse input via the stylus or a touch screen in order for the system to be able to "see" events. I myself can not contribute to a development for the touch screen, since my Lenovo X200T "only" has stylus input... because I preferred a brighter display (400nit) over a touch screen (that I would anyway only "spoil" with my sticky fingers. ;-) )

Secondly, there is XSMOUSE.CMD. This is a rexx file tailored to "my" Lenovo X200T. This file is a joint development of Wim Brul (programming) and myself (implementation, test). This is not released yet. I also can not say whether it will work with other Tablets (X61, X41, etc.) from Lenovo or other manufacturers since this was especially tailored to work with my 12-inch screen. But it should be possible for experienced users to adjust the CMD file to your own needs. However, this file will be released at a later date, as there is still active development around for driver parts that other systems -like touchscreens- will benefit from. Amongst others, it's about integration with "PEN for OS/2" and better responsiveness in full screen mode. Once these files are finished and I find someone who is familiar with WarpIn, the whole shebang will be packed into a Warpin package and made available for free... but this will still take some time.

Let me take the occasion to thank Wim Brul (who also approved the contents of this message).
All in all I can say is that for me, this driver provided me with a whole new "user experience" for eComStation - a great one! And it showed, that there is always a solution as long as skilled professionals such as Wim are available.

I'll keep you in the loop.

Hi Sigurd

What format is the video clip?

I ask because clicking the link opens a webpage with the HTML5 player open and no playback. Maybe this line indicates the cause of lack of playback:-

"Upgrade to Flash Player 10 for improved playback performance."

Any chance of any future videos being in either ogg or webm format?

Regards

Pete
