Checking the Netlabs Wiki Foundraising campain page. I think we should have that four bounties available at OS2World.com. This toolkits and framerworks are the base for many other aplicacions can be ported to OS/2-eCS.

  • GTK 2.x toolkit: The first one listed is a GTK2 port. This toolkit is used on several open source projects like GIMP, GAIM, Evolution and others. GTK2 toolkit license is GNU LGPL.
  • QT 4.x framework: Apps like PSI and LyX 1.5.x uses this framework. QT toolkit license is GNU GPL V2.
  • SWT (Standard Widget Toolkit from Eclipse.org). This will be excelent to be ported to OS/2-eCS. With this we can port ot OS/2 apps like Lotus Symphony, Notes 8, Eclipse, etc. SWT license is CPL. Currently there is a bounty open about this.
  • wxWidgets 2.8.X:Currently there is port to OS/2 of this version but Netlabs Claims that the GUI parts ported to PM have some problems. I really don't know much about this project and what software runs under it. Any comments will be apreciated. License is wxWindows Library Licence

What do you think ? should be invest on having this bounties ? any comments about this four projects?

I think we should help with these - GTK in particular would open up a lot of apps that could be ported....

Hi,
With regards to wxWidgets, I have tried it. This is not to slam the wxWidgets/2 maintainers, but I do agree that there are problems with it that I just could not succeed in my attempt in writing a GUI app with it.

With regards to bounty suggestions: Virtual Box. I think it is really important to have a supported virtual machine for OS/2. For example, we need java 6 (and beyond) working and I don't think native java will ever be ported for us.

Is someone going to add all these suggestions to the Bounty?

Just out of curiosity, why is there no link for sending a bounty suggestion on the Bounty page? or am I getting blind in my old age ? ???

I believe they were having problems with the submission system and spammers.

Hello! Well, with the old site there was issues with spam robots using the forms to send us lots of crap; currently this isn't an issue. But, check the Suggest Bounty page regarding suggestion of bounties.

I just submitted Virtual Box 1.5 as a bounty using your suggested link.

Hi

Do you have any suggestions on what should be the conditions for the "GTK 2.x" port Bounty ?
