SAMBA server and IBM OS/2 File and Print Client

I installed SAMBA Server on a test system. I had a few difficulties.

1. The Rexx utilities are required. Don't install the server without them. But the WPI for the Rexx utilities suggests the wrong directory. C:\eCS\DLL will install the utilities in C:\eCS\DLL\eCS\DLL. Change the directory to C:\ for a correct installation.

2. Once the installation is done, and the server configured, then I can connect to it with the SAMBA client, but not with the IBM OS/2 File and Print client. I've added

lanman auth = true
client lanman auth = true
client plaintext auth = true

to my smb.conf, but I still can't connect due to NET2758:  The system cannot connect to the server.

Cause:  The user ID and password you are currently logged on with do not match the access privilege required to complete this action.

Action:  Log on with an ID and password that provide the required access or provide the matching password with the ID.

If I can get this to work, I'll update the BayWarp webpage to give people some help to get the server running. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ad 1.) Yes, sorry. You are right. An updated package will be uploaded to netlabs as soon as it works again.

Ad 2.) Possibly the user account that you are using only has guest privilege and thus cannot connect. A proper setup of users AND groups might fix that. Please note, that using the LAN Requester with Samba server is (for several good reasons) not recommended, we do not even support it. That is not likely going  to change, especially as the Samba Client is quite fast and very stable meanwhile, especially with the latest revisions of NetDrive (3.1.3) and EVFS (the one that ships with eCS 2.1).

However, nevertheless I am interested in your results and I'd gladly them add to the FAQ http://svn.netlabs.org/samba#FAQFrequentlyAskedQuestionsandAnswers
Kind regards,
