I have an OS/2 generated dll that contains bitmaps and I want to extract them - Is there a utility that will allow me to extract them? To put this into context - I wrote an OS/2 game many years ago called Master of the Empire and I want to rewrite it so that it's multi-platform and since the old graphics are ok, I just wanted to rip them out and use them again - at least the terrain, the units will be redone.

Thanks,
Mike Ramsey

Yes.

Hmmm... I guess you want to know what utility? ;)

I *believe* what you want are the resource compiler/de-compiler tools though... which MAY be this utility from Martin Lafaix:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/dev/util/resmgr.zip

Or from his site:
http://lafaix.online.fr/os2/os2betaus.html

NOTE: THE ONE ON HOBBES SEEMS TO BE THE MOST RECENT

Let me know if that does the trick for you...

Hehe..that would work but I don't have Os/2 installed anymore - if you wouldn't mind, could you extract the bmps for me on your Os/2 box? Master of the Empire is freely available and all I need is the TSPRESC.dll. I could email the file to you - it's 5.9 mb.

I would be eternally grateful!!

Thanks,
Mike

Nevermind, thanks however - I found an old machine with os/2 and got them off using your recommended utility. Thanks!

Hi Mike

I just updated my Master for the Empire game page. Seems that I missed to update it on it's time.

On your site there is a dead link on this page.
The first file link do not work (http://roemerheim.dyns.net/p/files/gfdappga.me/files.htm).

Thanks
Martin

Awesome thanks, I hope to release an updated, multi-platform version in the near future. I've done a lot of AI work in my real job, as well as research for the GLR Cognitive Engine; and am now looking to apply it to something fun and MOTE fits that bill. It should make the game far more entertaining.
