CD Record
« on: 2008.05.30, 12:49:28 »
I installed the CD Record program following the instructions here: http://www.os2world.com/content/view/14542/2/. I didn't install the mentioned MMAudio Pak 2 (I am using eCS 2.0 RC4). I intended to burn a cd with some MP3 songs, and after clicking "Write" on the Create Audio CD program, it seemed to work for a few seconds, but afterwards I got 2 beep and I looked on the Popuplog.OS2 file and I saw this path:

05-30-2008  12:39:41  SYS3184  PID 0083  TID 0001  Slot 00af
C:\OS2\APPS\CDBURN\ADC_057\BIN\PMWRTAUD.EXE

Until now I didn't try the other features, like .Iso image burning and creating data CD/DVD
What can I do to solve the problem? Many thanks in advance.

SYS3184 is "divide by zero" fault. It seems to be a problem of pmwrtaud.exe and not yours one. Things to try:
(1) Use RSJ instead of cdrecord. 21-days full functioning demo can be downloaded from www.rsj.de
(2) Try to use cdrecord from command line and bypass the Audio Creator PM interface.

Some thoughts:

I also use eCSRC4 but have to install the ecs-mmaudiopak all the same. It doesn't seem to be completely installed.

I use audiocdcreator 0.56 instead of 0.57beta, with aspirout.sys and aspinkk.sys (using aspinkk.sys made Acdcreator also burn DVD:s with latest dvddao, which didn't work for me before). Acdcreator 0.57 can take advantage of the new transport system making it possible to burn with USB-burners, but it worked a little buggy for me so I don't use it.

I tried to install the MMaudiopak mentioned here: http://myweb.cableone.net/greggoryshaw/files/MMAudio_eCS.zip. I run the Multimedia installation manager and I directed it to the folder where I unzipped the MMaudiopak. I don't know how to go ahead. Which file shall I choose? It seems it is only necessary to install the MP3 support.

If you run the "Multimedia application install" and point to that directory it will "catch" the control.scr file. I think it will install the whole package.

To expand on Melf's answer, you may find it gives you two or three codecs (been a while) to install. Select them all, and install.

I created this script a few years ago for eCS 1.2 for installation of the MP3 codec after getting the necessary information of Martin.

I just tested the script.  Still works.  One thing I noticed is that MP3's will not play from an NTFS partition.

The readme was written when the minstall GUI was broken.  That is why the command line results are listed in the readme.

The CW-mulitmedia classes seem to need write-access to the volume the files are stored on, regardless of filetype. This can also be demonstrated by trying to use the CW-multimedia folder with files stored on a read-only NTFS mount. A strange limitation IMO, but I am unwilling to approach him about this due to the message he has left on his site concerning the CW-MM project.

Chris has already stated that no more work will be done on the classes except maybe for his private builds.  As much as I hate to see this, I don't believe he can be persuaded otherwise.

Yeah, its a shame really, they are quite good and make eCS more usable than it would otherwise be. But whatever, that all happened before I got into eCS so I'm sure whatever went on is rather permanant. Maybe someone else can hop on the libav codecs and make them into IOPROCS one day. That'd make eCS quite the platform for my media needs, so long as MTP support comes along as well. Speaking of, I have to go pester Nikk...

I installed the new multimedia support and now I am burning some MP3 songs! I didn't get the previous error. The next step is creating a data CD/DVD. Thanks again!

As I said, I burned some MP3 songs and everything seemed to be ok; at the end of the burning process, I got the message "Disk created successfully".
I tried to read the disk and I got the message "The Cd-rom might be damaged, unformatted or not sompatible...". In other words, the burned Cd was empty!!

I used a CD-RW.

Are you sure it's empty? I see two possibilities:

1) You may have to fixate the CD, AFAIK defult is no fixation. You do it with CDR tools.

2) You also have to open a CD-player eg cdpm.exe in C:\MMOS2\MMPLAYER\cdpm.exe. eCS don't recognize the content if you just open the drive.

Hi Melf -and All

You ought to have a look at Tonigy http://www.tonigy.com/ which is now freeware - cannot remember where I got a tonigy.key file from though... Aha! it is here http://www.tonigy.com/register.html

This useful driver makes eCS(OS/2) recognise audio CDs without having to start a CD player.
