Does "Qantas" (like SwissAir) use OS/2 for "maintenance" et cetera, et cetera...? Wasn't this a "scary" experience? Should the crew not be "congratulated" for doing things by the "book"! 8)

Some years ago, Qantas used OS/2 on their checkin terminals in Sydney airport - circa 2000.....

Quite interestingly, there are "international standards" for the integrity of aircraft components as well as "international standards" for Office Productivity Suites (Open Document Format Standards - ODF); but, I just cannot say if I have even come across "international standards" for an Operating System such as OS/2. Perhaps, there should be a movement within the OS/2 World Foundation towards such a standardization process as in this way there can be "universal" as well as "lifetime" access to aircraft maintenance and other data across all platforms.

Kindest regards.

SAB.
