From time to time I read Cassia's articles on the Inquirer.
I really like this one, not because he trash MS and give a good historical background on some big lies inside the IT industry.  I like it because he shows a problem that exist right now, Marketing vs. Reasson.

Here, here.

But I see this one all the time...

Marketing has nothing to do with reason.

It has nothing to do with logic.

It has nothing to do with sense.

It has little to do with money.

But it has everything to do with you, as a common man.

Marketing screws with your head, violates your space, and it is, at the start, the thin edge of the wedge that first cracks and then shatters, all the things that people hold dear and sacred.

It is, allegorically speaking, no less than a raping of the mind.

Albeit, in tiny increments that, by themselves, seem innocuous.

These tiny increments quickly swell their numbers and assemble to become a tour-de-force.

While marketing has nothing to do with reason; It is working as designed like a precision, mechanical, Swiss-made watch of old.

This is why it remains unchecked and, in essence, unchallenged.

There are volumes of books in psychology written on this very thing. And it is very well understood.

An excellent book on such is Marshall McLuhan's "Understanding Media" McGraw-Hill 1964.

If anyone needs another I remain watchful...

sure, if you cant go there because you are lost somewhere in your own bighouse, then anything that appears on the monitor would be priased...high on the shelf but not out of reach at the Gates mansion is the old standby for musak, once played in every elevator: MilleyVanillie's Greatest Hits. We are all manipulated by the overexposure and the glitz of media in any form, afterawhile it sinks in whether it be IT , sports, news, and even by those chilly comments made in blogsospheric durges by continually bashing r>limBLOW, which if you love the devil himself you'd be impressed by, ie deep_deep_deep*and eventually deeper into your subconcious [the banging of the drum over and over...]at least as much as by Dromgoole ASWA by the Dragon graphics on google splashdown during the summer games, be advised though, they are just that: games. If you are not impressed then just turn off the TV. *the medium is the message by Marshall McCluhan a case in point, reads that inference and implication whatever is a powerful thing on ''both ENDS" of the messge: when one knows how to manipulate public opinion, beyond that meda has been successfully used to mold and control, forging new states of culture designed to create the new world order now rather than having society evolve towards something it may be drawn to otherwise, isthatit? it is. See you have been impressed already! :-*

which is why 'miturbide' mentioned perhaps, was that it is "marketing versus reason", contrary to popular opinion! Marketing and image have merged into brainwashing and its done with rats running across the screen even though you dont actually "see" the images in visible campaign ad frames as they flicker...hmmm what are you feeding your children these days, Bill G >?
LET ME REPHRASE THis: :P

OR: it could have been said: I like marketing as it connects me to everything and I can become an automaton without having to think, I just react, regurgitate and then wonder why my stomoch is so bloated, why I am so overweight and why I yern for what I cant have...[no I didnt say it like that, meaning the S word] I was trying to relate to IT having no where else to go but inside yourhead saying: ok, you bought it (this or that gadget*), now you will never have time to go hither and fiqure it out, because NOW we have a new model and it just BLOZE....
