Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee on Sunday unveiled the World Wide Web Foundation, an initiative to spread the Web to developing countries and maintain its openness.

The organization, launched at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., is funded initially by a $5 million grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

In a speech, Berners-Lee--a proponent of a "nondiscriminatory Internet"--said the creation of the foundation is necessary to ensure that the Web serves humanity by connecting people.

[......]

The Web Foundation will seek to foster collaboration among business leaders, technologists, government, academia, and nongovernmental organizations. The mission is to:

    * advance One Web that is free and open
    * expand the Web's capability and robustness
    * extend the Web's benefits to all people on the planet

In his speech, Berners-Lee said the foundation is meant to address the social aspects of the Web to promote adoption around the world.

It would be "really neat" if OS/2-eCS can be given more meaningful roles with regards to this phase of development of the internet.  8)

Power to the masses!

Best regards

Ben

Here's another take on the same event.

What this is, under the guise of progress, is the introduction of the next phase of Internet censorship.

This is the forerunner to, (or the introduction of), Internet Licensing where you will have to have a license, (be authorized), to have a web site.

By the way... Berners-Lee has been knighted.

Understand what that means, (that is, why knighthoods are handed out), and you'll understand a lot.

Service to the crown, no?

In a manner of speaking, but not in the way you might think.

To really answer the question I have to ask you one;

Do you know what the "Crown" is?

Hint: It is not what you are thinking.

Saijin_Naib

The Crown is the symbol to which the British are expected to be loyal to and serve, typically represented (at least to the public at large) as the head of the Royal Family. I'm guessing in this case the Crown is the more abstract and disembodied purpose which some un-named people pursue.

Ben

The "Crown" and Royal Family are not related.

It is too extensive to go into here in a manner that would bring it clear to you.

Also, it is way outside the scope of this forum.

Nevertheless, if you have the interest and do not mind research, check into a relatively small building in the country of London, surrounded by the UK. In there, hidden amongst its towers, you will find a domed structure with a huge, active, chessboard outside.

This building is called the "Crown Temple".

This is the "Crown" you seek and a lifetime of service to it gets you knighted.

Check out the "Four Estates" of government to know more, and the "Cross and Crown", (the real one, not the one that Christians are given).

They have everything to do with it.

The connection is the de Rothschilds and the World Bank which are pulling the financial strings to it all and British Petroleum, of course, to a lesser extent.

Do on search on those four, (or five), and you'll get enough of what you asked for, to keep you going for a loong while.

So, what are the scenarios going to be when the "OIL" runs out in about 50-100 years or so.  ???

Ben

The question is not one of "when the oil runs out" rather, it's one of "when they turn it off".

Lindsey Williams can help you out with the so called "oil crisis".

He'll give you a part of the picture, but there's even more to it than he'll tell you.

If you've read and understand what I've posted on global social events on this forum, then this will be another piece for you.

Roosevelt and Disraeli made it very clear about what happens on the world stage... and about just how long it is all written in advance.

Suffice it to say that the world is a stage and the big boys are all just playing a role... all to entertain you and keep you clueless... so you don't see it coming...

Of course, most people couldn't see a guillotine if it was coming down on their neck and you were screaming at them to get out of the way... for that is metaphorically, exactly what is happening, the gushing oil is the hissing the blade in the distance.... hhhhhiiiiSSSSSHHHHHH!  ka-CHUNK!

All one can do is to try.

Then what happens to the world when the "One Webbed World" when there are no "Electrical Energies (Power)...." in certain parts of the world on which the "One Web" (with all the computers) depended. Would that be the death of "Electronic Communications" as we know it today. ??? And, the big question is: Do some of those underdeveloped countries have the social and economic means to provide the food, shelter, clothing... in addition to (or should I say much less) the utilities needed to connect to the "One Web" :( :( :(

Ben

The Internet as we have known it, is, in fact, in the last days.

Internet 2, which is being implemented in Canada this year, (if you want to believe the government there), is an entirely knew setup. Incredibly secure, and will be, once fully implemented, highly restrictive.

They actually announced Internet 2 around the same time as the WWW came into being, about five years after the Internet started going public.

There's no way it could have taken this long to create so obviously, they have been waiting for something social to happen... most likely, a certain percentage of worldwide Internet usage.

Understand that there will be not one song, movie, book, web site or file, transferred without you having to pay for it.

Websites will be licensed.

If you want 'more horsepower' you'll have to pay for it monthly like water, the more you get, the more you pay. It ain't hard to see it.

And you will not be able to do one, single, thing, without the government knowing precisely what you are doing, how long that you do it for, and how much you enjoyed it.

No one will be allowed to criticize the government without being "approved" and even then, they will have to submit quarterly reports to the government.

All this was made clear last year in a bill that they tried to ram through. As far as I know, it didn't make it, though I haven't had the time to follow it up. But once the big boys want something to be made law, it always happens. If not one way, then another. It is just a matter of time.

People may fight a bill, (and even defeat it), the first time around, but the next time finds them disinterested and seeking addictive entertainment to numb the mind.

The Internet is free and opened now, (meaning it didn't start off restrictive), because no one would use it otherwise. Instincts kept a lot of people from getting online until recently, in fact. It had to go through a few years of "frontier" styled freedom, in order to get everyone on board. Most online people have had their instincts dumbed down by now, and their sense of self-preservation put to sleep.

Once people have been hooked on the Internet, (like now), they won't give it up regardless of how restrictive it becomes, nor how invasive, nor how demanding, expensive, detrimental or idiotic. Hell, most people will, not even for a second, consider a life without computers, without Internet. Each one of us should stop and think about allowing something that has that much power over us, to continue without us having any say in its operation and control, whatsoever!

Soon, people will store all their information, regardless of how private, on someone else's machine, (a main server online), and their homes will all have, what is in effect, dumb terminals as of old. Meaning you will have a screen and an interface only. And everything will be insanely regimented.

Just think about that for a second... Storing ALL, (and I mean all, including naughty pics of you and your mate be it perverted or normal),  on SOMEONE ELSE'S machine! The whole concept is insane, yet it bothers not - one - person, not - one - wit... today. Many of whom would have freaked out at the mere suggestion of it, shunning the Internet forever, just ten or fifteen years ago.

Think about that. I mean it. Think about it. What has changed in you to allow this? Is it normal? Is it healthy?

Twenty years ago people knew the value of privacy. They knew that if you let the government into your private affairs that they would soon OWN you. You had to keep them out completely. Many people fought and many of them died for it. So you could have freedom. Why did they value so much, what todays generation deem worthless? Our generation has failed to be vigilant. We have dropped the ball.

Today people give everything away. Nothing is sacred or private. People even post pictures of their developing pregnancies on My Space, for god-sake, along with their personal, medical information. And no one cares.

It works simply, you see. Those that ruled us then, knew that they could never get people to give up their privacy in a front-on assault. So they had to find another way to get in. They had to make western people think they their governments were different from all others around the world. That somehow, our governments had morals and were decent, hard-working people, who had the best interests of those they represent, in mind.

So, what they did was make it really "Cool" to give away, just a little bit of privacy at first, for the younger, inexperienced, generation. They knew they could never get the older, wiser generation. So now, in a just one or two short generations, people are giving up their privacies, left, right and center... with no negative consequences, and without a thought.

The younger generations are told in school that old people, (those above even 20 now), are stupid and that they, the kids, are the best, smartest, brightest generation that there has ever been so there is no need to listen to their elders... and they don't. Someone, though they preach million-year-evolution in the same breath, that this generation is genetically more evolved than even their still-living parents. Obviously both can't be true.

So there are, seemingly, no consequences for privacy loss.

And the game board is set.

Behind the scenes this time, old privacy laws have been struck down, and new ones put in place... yet not enforced. The Constitution, (of all nations), have had an end run done around them, yet the new laws are not yet enforced... so everyone remains calm.

"So? What's the problem?"

Well, the problem is simply this. The elite are waiting, this time, until everything is in place, EVERYTHING. Then, ignited by some social incident that they, themselves will cause, ("Oh, no! It's those filthy terrorists again!"), they will enforce all the laws in one... great... swoop!

And people will wonder what the fu*k just happened and look around without a clue. Lost. Beaten without a fight. Dumbed to the death. Playing games till their heart stops pump, pump, pum p i n...

Zbigniew Brzezinski, (you know, the same one controlling Obama now), wrote about it in the 70s before the Internet ever came to the public. Understand who he was/is. Understand his power and influence and how all his big "wishes", (for they are not wishes but the big agenda of the elite), come true.

Buy his book, (if you can find a copy, a good used, reprinted, paperback should go for $500.00 if you can find one at all), "Between Two Ages".

Of course, those that have been paying attention to my posts will know another route.

Anyway, from there it will be a small, near-useless, implant, improving incrementally to total, inside-the-body, connectivity and then, it's bye-bye for all of us.

It is unbelievably amazing what people will give up for a bit of minor convenience and entertainment.

Unbelievable.

saborion2

Whoaaahhh Ben, how do one translate all of what you are saying in terms of the short, medium and long term trends that are affecting (and will be affecting) financial establishments all around the world. And, cannot the "Web" be put to better use in a effort to aid in the crises leaving out the "human" sfforts that are also required.

How do you find the time to research and write sooooooooo....... much. Folks have got other things to do ya know; especially with what is happening on Wall Street? ;)

Ben

Other things to do?

If you understand what I've been saying then prioritization would be your first step.

Everyone, at some basic level, has a choice, and it boils down to what Kissinger had to say about "meat upon the table".

If distraction is what you want then that's a choice too.

While everyone does not have to do major research in any areas, "local" is a good place to start.

Find out what your mayor is up to, local police chief and school boards.

If you have no problems with any of these once you've checked into it, then that's that.

Fixing occurs when people as a whole, assume a role, however small, in the running of the affairs that affect their own lives.

How much say do you presently have in the what happens on the Internet? On what happens to the information/data on you? About who can sell it? Use it? Mis-use it? Who benefits? Who doesn't. Shouldn't you, at the very least, be the prime benefactor of any gains on "you"? Yet you not only are not involved, but have no knowledge of this goings on. What does that tell you about how they think about you? about who you are to them?

One of the greatest cons is the one that make us think that we are "too small" to have a say in these things. Not only are we not too small, but the situation can never do anything but deteriorate, without our individual and direct inputs.

if you don't care about the running of your own lives, don't participate; accept the consequences whatever they are, silently... like a good boy.

I cannot, (and would not), explain ever little detail in the running of world wide financial institutions here. The only thing I can do is paint in broad strokes.

If you need to know more, then there are plenty of good books out there. Some, though hard to find, tell you how it actually works. Most are "authorized" to ensure that you are kept in La-la land, with no hope of understanding what's going on financially. You can't possibly understand what they say, so you think that you either "do not have enough information" or "do not have enough brains", when the only relevant points is that you have been fed a load of crap. No wonder it doesn't make sense.

The economic system is not hard to understand. World banks control all money on this planet either directly, or by using the IMF, (International Monetary Fund). Those outside of this system they want brought in, or wiped out. On the bottom rung, economics work much as people expect. As you move up, you understand that all money is controlled at the top, by a few, and the value of a nation's currency, (even gold), is decided by just a few, on a daily basis.

Oil is used as a currency.

The IMF is a mechanism for takeover of non-member countries, or as a means of starving out those very nations that, realizing what they're up to, refuse to join them.

Longterm; money is to be replaced by a credit only system where the currency will be called something like "credits". Globally, I'm talking.

This is to prevent the accumulation of wealth of the lower to middle classes. You will start your work week with a certain amount of credit in your account. At the end of the week your previous balance will be struck off, and the credit returned to it's previous weeks amount. What you do not spend you will loose.

It's easy to know this, for they write about it in their own documents. UN documents speak openly on this.

Download their book, from the UN website, on "Agenda 21" and read it. This is the book that they are going by, having come out of their Rio Summit. I can give you a copy, but it would be better if you pulled it from their own site.

They wish to eliminate ownership of "all private property" and private transportation. This means that you will not be allowed to own your house, your land, or your car. And they wish to prevent private accumulation of wealth, however small, to make you 100 percent dependant on the government for your day to day existence.

Now couple that with the way the Internet is going with privacy-out-the-window and "total information" harvesting and control, and the picture starts to become clear about how they are going to enforce these insane laws.

The Internet will be the system of control. If you step out of line, your bank account drops to zero, you get kicked out of your rented apartment, the public transportation system will not accept your embedded chip and you won't be able to buy anything, not even food.

100% control over you. You will have absolutely no choice whatsoever, but to obey everything, regardless of how insane it might seem to you, that your government tells you. Your life will be one of service to the government. SLAVERY.

I kid you not!

You do not have to guess, speculate, or figure out what they are doing, and where we are going; they tell us, in their own words, in their own books, put out there for us to read, knowing full well that we will not, (ho-hum, boring!), to our own detriment... meat upon the table.

They make it real easy for us to fall asleep.

They even tell us on TV, (sometimes late when you are asleep), they tell us in the newspapers, albeit on the back pages, and they tell us online, on the major news websites, albeit well hidden, or misnamed.

By doing this, they are "officially notifying the public" to see what the "public", (surely they are reading this), has to say about it. If the public say nothing, then they go ahead with their plans. Doing nothing is acceptance.

Now, I've said a few times here now, that I have made it easier for people who have an interest in what happens to them, by putting many of these online news announcements on my own website which you can get access to by clicking on my signature file below this, and everyone of my posts.

There are over a hundred of them there, with more going up every day. Categorized, organized, convenient. The complete articles with links to the original article as per BBC, CBS, Washington Post, whatever, so you can verify each one for yourselves.

I get people from all over the world coming to my site. Belgium, Germany, Brazil, Australia, France, Israel, India, Russia.Canada, US., UK even Japan!

Some people are beginning to understand what our mis-leaders are up to.

If you have no interest in your own future, the running of your own life, or what is going to happen on a small scale, (to your family), or on a big scale, (global), then don't read these articles and don't read my posts.

If you can do nothing else, then start talking about it to those around you. You don't have to broach the big subjects, just speak about local events, or what your leaders are up to. Or some article that you've read of interest.

But I tell you now, there is a big cost for sleeping and remaining quiet.

At the very least every one should find out what is actually going on, and then decide what they should do, because, my friends, we have been deceived...
