HDA support on UniAud is somewhat functional, but even with much effort of
Paul Smedley and UniAud crew, many problems arise on some kinds of
hardware.
  I have a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L board, which uses ICH7+ ALC662 (which
I don't know if it is your combination), and I found a combination that works
better for me, using APIC/ACPI: Install UniAud 1.1.4RC6 (probably already
installed on eCS2RC5) and then replace UNIAUD16.SYS with that on
Paul's 1.9.8 package:

http://download.smedley.info/uniaud32-1.9.8.zip
(for debug version: http://download.smedley.info/uniaud32-1.9.8-debug.zip )

Also, replace UNIAUD32.SYS with that on the older RC2 version:

ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/uniaud/old/uniaud114RC2.zip

If your audio hardware has something to do with mine, this should get
audio somewhat working without hanging everything around and without
repeating sounds. Occasional audio hangs when playing YouTube or
Z! will happen. Nothing that hangs the computer, but sometimes you'll
have to reboot to get your sound back.

I had already made some reports about the problems with my hardware:

http://svn.netlabs.org/uniaud/ticket/122
http://svn.netlabs.org/uniaud/ticket/145

If your problems shows different than mine, I suggest you to get the
latest Paul's debug driver, run UniInfo:

ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/uniaud/UniInfo.zip

  Create a Netlabs account:

http://www.netlabs.org/en/site/member/member.xml

And post a "ticket" report on the tracker, adding as many
information as you can about your hardware and attaching
the UniInfo information.

   I wish you luck. :)

Stay tuned there is being worked very hard by the UNIAUD team and an external developer in conjunction with Mensys to get HDA audio hardware to work. This new uniaud build will also be part of eComStation 2.0 RC 6.

This will also fix a other long standing bugs in uniaud related to buffer management.

P.S. I don't make a habbit of dropping by on forums but seen some messages I wanted to give a reply to.
