Greetings,  Turns out I need so very old data stashed away in SAVERAM files, and even have a copy of LOADRAM.EXE which should be able to unpack them, but unfortunately no OS/2 to run.

(1) Is there a version of LOADRAM for WINxx?
(2) Is there a kind soul that could help me unpack the files (about 5MB)?

Thanks,

Mark

Hey mark, I may be able to do it for you. I'll just install eCS in a virtual machine and extract that way.

I seem to recall, that LOADRAM.EXE is a program that will run in both OS/2, and DOS, but I think that later versions of windows (the ones based on NT), aren't smart enough to run it. Probably worth trying.

Good luck...

Thanks, Doug.  Neither XP nor Vista will run loadram.exe.

They are both based on NT. You need real DOS, or Windows 95, 98, or ME. I think that FreeDos might work too. It should work from a diskette boot, as long as you can get enough disk space to store the files.

Worked fine for me under XP seeing as I extracted all the files and sent it to him ;P

Thank you sooo much...the files are saved! that must be how you earned the "hero" designation.

Believe it or not, these files are from 1992.

Thanks again,

Mark

Haha, no, I got hero member from posting too much. I doubt many feel I am a hero member as I can be quite contrary to the modus operandi.

In any case, any time, let me know if you need anything.
