Hi there,

Could someone suggest hardening procedures for OS/2 please?

I'm looking for a generic hardening procedure for the very latest OS/2 version.

Thanks,
V

Show it some porn? I donno :P

If you have the Software Subscription you can get the nice GUI to interface with the built-in Firewall which is actually pretty powerful.

You can download and use ClamAV to scan for Virii but I don't think it is on-access.

You can put Flashblock/PopupMaster/no-script in firefox to prevent anything malicious from loading without your consent.

That is about all I have.

Hi V,

It really depends on what you are going to use it for.

Delete anything you don't need, like most of the stuff in x:\tcpip\bin and x:\tcpip\dll.
This is best done in a safe manner such as copying files to a sub directory of each
such as x:\tcpip\bin\org and x:\tcpip\dll\org etc, then deleting the files, use copy and
not move to play safe, otherwise file links will follow the files to the new directory.

Also upgrade things like the FTP server etc to Peter Moylans FTPD and Mail server.
The latest Bind & utilities from Paul Smedley.
Definitely delete sendmail !

ns1.comkal.net runs on an old PC with a 120Mb HD, only because its faster than an
old 40Mb HD, I think from memory the used space on the HD is something like 12Mb,
runs a mail relay, ClamAV, DNS server, FTP server, IRCD, firewall, and other stuff, so
that gives you an idea of how much I delete from an OS/2 install (v4.52).

Cheers
