Wape is dead?
« on: 2007.05.25, 23:09:22 »
Hi all,
So what's the deal of WAPE? The supposed WINE port. There seems to be no news at all since March 2007. Is it dead? Any comments?

http://www.tursoft.sk/index.php?a=cat.117  There doesn't seem to any news after 02-28-2007.  :(
' So we got through the license and it is clear that two questionable things still have to be removed. I fixed the first problem but the second one, memory allocation, is patented by some di*k, so free software (Open Source) is no longer free." Perhaps this is keeping it from going forward?   ???

I sent an e-mail to every e-mail listed at the site. I have not heard anything; no e-mail reply.  :-\

:-[ Like I had suspected, WAPE was just vapourware and empty promises.

Vapourware - You Bet! Try to take a look at the posted screen captures at the site; take a closer look (click to view the images in a new window) eCS icons and you'll notice the typical jpeg compression has done it's fair share to everything that has to do with eCS, but the larger sections of the desktop is nice and clean. So if for me it looks clearly as a good PhotoShop work since there are too many interesting compression errors in the image when you start to look at it.
