I have a few OS/2 things to give away to anyone who's interested.

OS/2 Warp 3 Connect - Red Spine
OS/2 Warp 3 Connect - Blue Spine (no disks, just hard copy documentation)
Visual Age C++ 3.0 (hard copy edition)
Developer Connection for OS/2 Volume 8
Developer Connection for LAN Systems (Volume 4)
OS/2 Productivity Toolkit
Arcada Backup Version 2 for OS/2 Warp

*The items are free, but a donation equal to the cost of the postage stamp would be nice.

If responding, please be patient for a reply because I don't get on-line that often.

Hi William,

I add my name first in line for VC++, the DevCon, Productivity Toolkit and Backup. I can leave Warp 3 to anyone, I've already too many copies of that ;)

For the Warp 3 stuff, do both include the license stuff?  If so then I'll put my name down for them.

I never got any license stuff with them other than the statement in the paperwork/manuals about what was entitled/appropriate use and the licensing terms.

Hi,

not sure if I understood correctly... anyway:
In my "retail box" of VA C++ 3, there is the "proof of ownership" or whatever it's called.
(It's a paper card showing a silver imprint of a floppy disk.)

AFAIK, all retail products (boxes) I have bought which are "real" IBM products have such a card inside.
Well, some vendor-flavored versions of Warp 2.xx and 3x don't have these of course... but even my IBM Dualstor box contains it.

HTH,
Thomas

The Red Spine box for OS/2 Warp does have the license card. The Blue Spine box is just manuals. There is no software.

The Visual Age C++ was a gift from IBM for attending a developers conference.

The Arcada backup I purchased and used it a few times. I don't register my software. It always becomes obsolete and unsupported long before I'd ever need to contact technical support (and I'd sooner opt to have my teeth kicked out by a mule than call tech support).

Anyway, I've already e-mailed the first two who responded. If I don't hear from them in a few days I'll offer the stuff to next person.

Thomas:

Ah... I may have had that in some of my boxes. Various were gifts from IBM, others weren't. They were probably in all of them except the WSeB releases and the beta releases.

My main interest - over the years I've set up a number of systems with Warp 3, 4, and eCS with various groups (often non-profit groups) for situations/tasks where I know Warp can do well (file serving, website serving, audio logging, stuff I'll automate through REXX, etc).  Being non-profit groups, I can often find donations of still functional hardware that is being disposed simply because it doesn't keep up with the latest offerings.  I'll get older (but still functional) hardware, add a version of Warp, and then often find the performance is more then acceptable for the needed task.

But the kicker is, any system that I set up for any group I need to be able to provide a retail box / license / something to prove it is a legitimate copy of OS/2.  Regardless of how IBM views OS/2 licensing, I still insist on ensuring that if the question were ever asked "Do you have a license to this software" the answer can be "yes, here it is".
