Silvan S. .. .
Just want to applaud the developers of this port! It has already made very interesting programs available, like the Qeven, which is a simple gui videoencoder.

Is there a problem with the Downloads from Netlabs site? It appears that the ports are not posted on the ftp directories listed in the release announcment.

In a nutshell, QT is a set of libraries that can be used in your own software development. It enables the developer to use prebuilt parts that enable to create (among others) nice user interfaces or use advanced programming stuff without having to worry if the software is created for windows, linux or - eComStation. All this can be done in the fraction of the time that would be required when creating everything from scratch.

Also, a program that was developed with QT on one platform (e.g. Linux) can only be ported (to another platform) if the source codes are available and QT exists on the other platform. In other words, a Linux program done with QT can only be made to work on eCS if the source code of the program is there (the thing which the developer has "typed") and if QT for eCS is there. This will then be put together by the compiler which generates the actual executable that end-users can launch.
