The Java . .. .

Hey, thanks, man! This is VERY cool. :)
As a Java developer, this is very good news indeed.
I am having some trouble with it - probably because there are references to Java 1.4.2 on path / libpath - but I'll try again later.

Hi Daniel !!

Well, it says "It can only compile and run console Java applications, AWT and Swing classes are not yet available.", it still alpha but it is pretty good to see the progress.

I hope once the Java port get finished, that this can also help port SWT to have eclipse running on ecs-os2.

  Hi Silvan,

After some minor changes and setting CLASSPATH=.; OpenJDK / Java 1.6 is now working successfully. I built some simple command line programs without problems. Is there any kind of specific tests I could perform to help you on the development?

  Thanks for the marvelous work!

not really special tests. just test as many java cmdline apps as possible. and all what you find which does not work needs a ticket.

Does SWT require either Swing or AWT?

No, but I doubt the port will work with this version of Java since it's based on Window code (ODIN 32). Still, it would be worth to try it.

Trying the release I get:
Error loading: <%path%>\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll

Anything obvious missing?

Thanks

I had this kind of problem before I did two things:

1) Installed new Odin
2) Rebooted
3) Defined the environment as following:

set PATH=c:\programs\java160\bin;c:\odin\system32;%PATH%
set BEGINLIBPATH=c:\programs\java160\bin;c:\odin\system32;%BEGINLIBPATH%
set CLASSPATH=.;

  Regards!
