Firstly, "Merry Christmas !"to everyone at OS/2 World.

Secondly, does anyone know how to view an *.JP2 file under OS/2? PMView will not do it and while GBM claims to, it will not. Embellish, Impos/2, etc., will not either.

Any suggestions?

Hi Ben,

Try opening it in one of the latest Firefox or Seamonkey releases.

On a whim I thought I'd look for a .jp2 file and learnt something new, .jp2 files are also something else called Jeoparty II Presentation files.

Thanks for replying, Ian.

I tried it in Firefox 3.6.12 and Minefield 4.0b8pre and both offered me a place to save it.  :-\

However, I was hoping to find some means to manipulate the image as well.

I'll hunt around for something in JAVA and see what turns up.

Hmm... I wonder if there's anything in the QT arena, ported or not...

Nconvert doesn't seem to convert it. GIMP doesn't open it. Can't be open in OO Draw. Java Image editor no, Java Image browser no, PhotoFiltre (through Odin) no....... This seems to be a hard one!

Update: GBM and Minefield 4.08b pre worked fine!

I'm able to view the JP2 files at http://www.microimages.com/gallery/jp2/ in Seamonkey v2.0.11

I do have the GBM plugin installed.
They also view fine using standalone GBM, and using GBM to convert to JPG's also works fine with no problems.

Any chance you could post a link to your problem one(s)?

Cheers
Ian

File opens fine in Seamonkey
Can open the file fine in GBM Viewer or editor though its a bit slow but then it is over 20M in size.
Converts fine to JPG in GBM Editor.

The GBM I'm using is the latest one, wonder if its something to do with the j2kcodec_134.zip file, I have the exe's from this package in my path.

See attached screen grab

PS,
QuoteHowever, I was hoping to find some means to manipulate the image as well.

Best option after a bit of messing around is convert to TIF with GBM then edit in PMview or another
editor with options to suit.

Thanks, Ian.

I'm pretty sure that I have the latest GBM installed. What that implies is two versions on different paths.

I'll do a sweep and relay findings and results.

Ben

OK.

I found the problem... I mean besides the fact that I had several GMB.DLL(s) scattered around my drives.  :o

The problem was the 1.71 version of that library was not installed.

Once I over wrote the old with the new, the *.jp2 files loaded, albeit as you said, Ian, slowly. But conversion solves this issue.

Thanks for the help people, now I can view these very-high resolution files.
