I'm trying to think of a list of abandoned OS/2 apps that were actually made freeware. So far, I can only think of BlueCAD, TrueSpectra Photo>Graphics and Dadaware Embellish. Can anybody think of any others?

I have been doing a lot of research on that for my new site...I emailed you!

I tried to reply, but your domain's mailserver says your email address doesn't exist...

Fahrvenugen

PostRoadMailer (for a long time my favourite email app for OS/2)

Then (even though its Java) jStreetMailer (AKA Polarbar Mailer)

For a while Hacksaw was free, I'm not sure if that was meant as a permanent thing or just an offer at the time.

Sorry about that...I had an old email...its updated now.

I thought of a couple more myself: 4OS2 and OpenWatcom both started out as commercial software before going open source.

CDRWSel

I have CUADRAW / CUAPAINT  IBM (c) from 1991
I do not know if it is always under licence agreement

miturbide

NFTP is now open source under the MIT license.

Hi WarpWorld

I haven't hear of that law, and the link that it reference seems to be broken.

As far as "the all mighty" wikipedia says ;)
"Therefore, sharing of such software is usually considered copyright infringement, though in practice copyright holders rarely enforce their abandonware copyrights."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware

I wish this could change on the future.

Microsoft Word for DOS became freeware. IBM PC DOS 2000 Chinese edition was available on IBM server for free download for unknown reason long time, but from unknown reason again they (IBM) removed it, so license of that system is big symbol ? ,who downloaded it in that time, have free legal version, others not  ;D
Also, I found very interesting brazilian word processor from 80's and it works fine and with .doc files.
