Hi Remy,
I find the X in AVXCAT is a little disturbing. If the X was gone a near associated word for me is  "awesome cat", which very much describe your software! (and you could make a nice logo of it!) But then there is the V instead of W - and how to fix that?

Maybe A Warped Conversion and Authoring Tool

Hi Mike,

W !

Awesome World Conversion and Authoring Tool

but, once X is changed to x, the rendering seems better

AVxCAT

I jus saw that AWCAT is used by an ADHESIVE TEXTILES firm...

melf

;D I like your interpretation! Too bad it's already taken.. yep AVxCAT  is better!

Ok thanks,

I tried many other option but all nice an easy to remember are already taken !
Now with the lower case "x", it looks to be better and I decided to rename FFMPEGCA to AVxCAT  (c)
The program object will have its name on 2 lines:
                       AVxCAT
    A/V Conversion & Authoring Tool

But its full name would be:  Audio/Video eXtended Conversion and Authoring Tool
Thanks
Cheers

Hi Remy,

Why not TOOLS instead of TOOL?

But consider that my poor English is not enough to understand the meaning flavours of the word/words.

Hi,

sorry for being late. FWIW, why not...
"Audio and Video oriented Conversion and Authoring Desktop(-tools) for OS/2" ?

-> This abbreviates to...:   AVOCADO.

Hi,

Why Tool instead of Tools ? (you use only one tool despite it calls more tools)

AVOCADO !  ( It sound nice and after a verification on internet, I found it is very much used !)

I already did changes into the program and switched to AVxCAT now.
It should be ready in a few days after more test. Currently, I did a few correction and added some small enhancements.

Here is what's comming next:

1.0.2 - FFMPEGCA v1.0.2 name changed to "AVxCAT v1.0.0"
     - New updated WPI package which creates now an AVxCAT folder on the desktop
including the program and a doc folder. Last install step allow you to get required and/or
       optionnal products used by AVxCAT
      - AVxCAT uses a unique pipe name at start time based on "seconds"
(allow multiple instance be started and processing files)
     - Added "Add files" and "Add directories" into RMB too
     - Added --jsync start parameter to allow default -map syncro change using video join option
     - Changed initial start preset path detection
     - Added --apre --spre Uparms detection and process.
     - Added limited FFplay.exe support
     - Updated docs
     - Corrected join size popupmsg and changed its color to a lighter yellow
     - Corrected a bug on AAC selection when using Dave's FFMPEG
     - Added support for AMR (only mono, 8000Hz and below 13kbps valid) for futur ffmpeg !
     - Corrected some automatic option agains FFMPEG version
     - Corrected a possible wrong ffmpeg version identification
     - Corrected a possible ffmpeg immediate stop  when extra log is always enabled
     - Other minor corrections

During migration, just rename ffmpegca.ini to avxcat.ini... That's all

My site updated -> Now AVxCAT available

Now that the name no longer points to it being a gui for ffmpeg... maybe adding some other options such as using Timidity to convert midi files (to get from midi to mp3 may require 2 conversions but would be handy to have AVxCAT handle that) and maybe something like voix (VoiX voice suppressor - currently in hobbes incoming).

CDRWSel

I'll check both tools possibilities.... And tell you next

Best regards

Hum !
May be it uses some SSE function not fully implemented into SMP kernel...  ::)

Voix is apparently doing some floating point calls... There is a bug in some OS/2 subsystem(s) (I don't recall which) that causes some floating point errors (as I recall, it was due to the compiler that was used for some parts of OS/2).  Floating point calls need to be wrapped... This was a problem for Cairo on OS/2 and I also found that it had to be done in QT4 and I ended up adding those updates to QT3 when I was building Typefaster.  I don't know of anything that a user can do to fix the issue, only a code change to my knowledge will fix it.
Here is a blurb on it:

That link didn't talk as much about it as I thought... there is another link out there but I don't recall where.  Anyhow, I tried to apply the fix to voix and sent a copy to you.  As it did not have a problem here initially I can't tell for certain if I applied it correctly but it didn't cause it to start crashing here at least.
Here is the comments from the Cairo code.
/* Some OS/2 PM API calls modify the FPU Control Word,
* but forget to restore it.
*
* This can result in XCPT_FLOAT_INVALID_OPCODE exceptions,
* so to be sure, we disable Invalid Opcode FPU exception
* before using FPU stuffs.

CDRWSel

Hi !

I'm testing timidity to create a wav file. It works but the created file is uncompatible with ffmpeg !
Any idea about why and what happens ?

Command used:
'C:\PROGRAMS\TiMidity\timidity.exe -Ow1SM -s 44100 "C:\programs\TiMidity\midi\malaguena.mid" -o "M:\test.raw.wav" '

File can be played under OS/2

and then:
ffmpeg.exe -y -i "M:\test.raw.wav" -ar 44100 -acodec adpcm_ima_wav -vol 256 -ac 2 "C:\home\default\.avxcat\malaguena.wav"

Of course, I tried a reduced syntax to:
'C:\PROGRAMS\TiMidity\timidity.exe -Ow "C:\programs\TiMidity\midi\malaguena.mid" -o  "M:\test.wav" '
But I've got the same result.

ffmpeg result:
  ...
  Input #0, wav, from 'M:\test.raw.wav':
  Duration: 00:03:08.84, bitrate: 705 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Audio: pcm_s16le, 44100 Hz, 1 channels, s16, 705 kb/s
C:\programs\TiMidity\midi\malaguena.mid: Invalid data found when processing input

Thanks
Remy
