hi

I found this news at slashdot.org and I wanted to test Doom Javascript on Firefox 4.
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/demos/detail/doom-on-the-web/

After some loading it started working... but I can not fire or open doors. But it moves around at a decent speed. (not sure if it decent enough for a deathmatch)

I tested it on a virtual machine and it took a lot of the machine resources making it very slow.

Any other experience?

Hi Martin

I've just given this a quick try.

I found that, like you, I cannot fire, both cpus took it in turns to peak continually and there is no sound. However doors open OK and speed was not too bad - maybe because it was not in a vm.

Regards

Same experience as Pete here (in a no VM setting), hi CPU but fast moving - no sound, no fire.

Two different experiences:
On my Athlon XP 2600+, it was sluggish (4FPS), but with some kind of sound. 100% CPU use (running eCS2). No shots.
On my i7 2600. it run decently at 35FPS, with sound (although somewhat sloppy), using only 80% of one of the four cores (running Windows 7 x64). I was able to shot using CTRL.

Ah, on both cases it used almost an entire gigabyte of RAM... it seems a lot to play a 15 years old game. :P
