HP MV2010 (network-attached storage) NAS

Guess this is as good a place to post this as any. I purchase a MV2010 a week ago and thought the results would interest OS/2-eCS people.

I'm going to be brief, EAs do work on this drive. It requires that you set the drive up and create shares. Next the smb.conf file has to be modified to enable EAs and a script to copy smb.conf on MV startup.

I tried it with IBM Peer and it worked but have been mostly using samba with the NAS.

From the support board:

I found that the ReiserFS filesystem code in our release (1.3.5.9) of the HP/BroadNAS system was retro-fitted with extended attributes and ACLs. Furthermore, the NFS v3 code has also been equipped with Posix
xattr's/acl's. Both were not standard at the time of release of that kernel version, but I don't have any info from which code this was back-ported.

So, turning on the EA feature in Samba makes a lot of sense, wonder why they didn't do that by default.
