I just wondering the other day, what films has OS2 been in or should one say - viewable? I have to say that I can't currently not come up with one film where OS2 is shown on a screen or mentioned. But, does this mean that OS2 never ever has been viewed in a film or series? Even of IBM was really bad on marketing I recall that IBM Sweden earlier sponsored the Beck films made here in Sweden where all of the IBM equipment suddenly had over sized IBM logotypes all over :-)

There was one scene where they pan over a room full of workstations and they have IBM OS/2 logos on them, I believe.

Would that be in the beginning of the film; I mean I just got to check and document how far you have to fast forward to get there :-)

There were a few. The entire movie seemed an IBM commercial and then an OS/2 commercial. Some of the other OS2 notices are a bit more subtle. The IBM ones though sure arent. The IBM logo on everything was 3-4 times normal size.

http://www.jamesbond.com/ Here is the official James Bond site. I have the movie that is mentioned and will check it out.

http://www.mi6.co.uk/mi6.php3 Here is another James Bond site. This seems to have more information on the JB movies and a forum. :)

I tried a Google using 'OS/2 movie' but only came up with a list of sites about playing a movie in/with OS/2 or other similar subjects. It would be neat if OS/2 or eCS was in a movie. It would be neat to have a list (probably a short one) of movies that either OS/2 or eCS in it.  ;D

Guess that I have to check again since I ran through the entire film using fast forward :-) But, if any one can give a hint of specific time that would be great (or we might end up with a Guiness record for most people fast forwarding through a film :-)

Well, as already mentioned by someone else, the Russian plant blowing up showed a lot of machines with the OS/2 Warp logo on the screen - even while blowing up or on fire (talk about crash resistant).

Almost all (or all?) of the computers were IBM's with massive oversized IBM logos on them.

Many shots of computer screens showed an OS - which looked distinctly like OS/2 (though I think - if memory serves that many looked like some custom made-for-movie stuff).

I believe the Bond film that you're looking for is "Golden Eye".

In the big set that was in Russia where the satellite was controlled from, the computers ran OS/2.

True to all Bond movies, the control room was destroyed at the end of the film.

Having scanned through Tomorrow Never Dies couple of times I've was starting to think that there was two version available; one that was plastered with IBM commercial and one not (has happened). So checking Golden Eye I found the clip around 1:51:00 so here is a screen capture:

That's the one Kim! As for the rest of the movie, most of the "IBM Commercials" in it are stuff most people wouldn't notice... for instance all the Model M keyboards with the IBM logos massive on them. I have owned almost every model of the Model M there is (sans the industrial olive/grey which I am working on acquiring), so when I saw those keyboards in watching the movie, I instantly recognized that the keyboards never had the logo as large as in the movie (and then subsequently noticed that almost all the IBM hardware had oversized IBM logos)... but most people probably wouldnt have noticed that unless they too owned a ton of the Model M KBs.

I love the IBM keyboards. I think I have a Type-M at home from my old Aptiva. I use a newer IBM KB-0225 because I love the hard keystrokes and tactile/auditory feedback. Plus, I can kill zombies with it if it comes to that.
