Recommend article:fIndianapolis (IN) - Yesterday, Phoenix Technologies, the BIOS makers, announced a new product that could significantly change the way we use our notebooks.  Called HyperSpace, this new technology provides BIOS-level support for instant-on computing, either with or without the host operating system.  Could it be that OS vendors are finally forced to dig deeper and pull out a real user experience?
"
How will this affect OS/2-eCS if some one decides to use it on a hyperspace system?  ???

http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9045662&intsrc=hm_list Here is another article on the Hyperspace from Phoenix.  8)
"November 06, 2007 (Computerworld) -- BIOS maker Phoenix Technologies Ltd.'s plans to market a new application platform the company claims will solve a number of problems endemic to Microsoft's Windows platform might be taken as a provocative gesture at their longtime partner. But Redmond's immediate reaction was nonchalant.

On Monday, the Milpitas, Calif. software maker announced Hyperspace, a Linux-based virtualization platform that will let OEMs bundle cut-down versions of popular open-source software that end users will be able to access instantly, even without booting Windows."

"Hobbs was not shy in voicing his belief that Microsoft's continual adding of new features to Windows "is going down a failed path. They're just putting too much on the back of Windows, which the architecture can't support."

hmmm interesting; even if article that you linked to doesn't really talk abou what OS it will support I would like to read that I still can run and use this kind of feature for what ever OS I want to run. But, then again it talks about Windows which one way or another could indicate that it will be some kind of enhancement that only works with Windows since we're still talking about virtual environment. Guess we'll know more when the first system are released with mentioned features.

I donno, it says linux environment, so I assume that its going to be a very stripped down linux enviro that can call some linux apps on that environment. They also make mention of additional chips to store that info, so maybe a 128mb chipset that stores the environment integrated onto the board?
