Greetings, Paul.

I have a copy of ColorWorks 2.0, but it has problems with SNAP and it's not really useable anymore.

The preview windows display blackness always,
(though there is a hack to fix that), the pointer doesn't line up with the pixels that you're trying to edit when zoomed, (making editing very difficult indeed), and the gradients do not work.

Also, there are the basic problems with ColorWorks that were never addressed in version 2.0 like the windows holding their positions between restarts and consistant crashes should you use the wrong mouse button at the right time.

ColorWorks held such promise for OS/2 users having been an exclusively OS/2 program ,
(and potentially being the Killer App that would make ppl switch to OS/2), until SPG decided to do a dirty on the OS/2 community. This left a foul taste in the mouth of OS/2 users everywhere and was a catastrophic business decision that eventually resulted in the demise of the company.

It was bad for all involved.  :(

But yes, I have a copy. 8)

I have a copy of ColorWorks v1+, which was the somewhat lighter version that SPG sold at the same time as the v2.0 release.  I think I paid US$99 for it at the time.  Nice program.  VERY nice manual.  I may have a PDF version of the manual as well somewhere.

What are the differences between v1+ and v2?

Hi.

SNAP has very little to do with eCS other than that SSI decided to include it with the latest version, and had a light version for a previous release.

SNAP was produced by SciTech Software and was sold as a separate product for the OS/2 market.

It's still optional on eCS.

But to come directly to your question, ColorWorks should run on any version of OS/2, as far as I'm aware, for when it was originally sold, there was no such thing as eCS, hence the market was for Warp 3 and Warp 4 users.

I hope this helps.

I just tried on a system with the latest SNAP and an ATi X800 GTO: The preview works and so do the gradients. Didn't try the zoom. Did you install the patch from Hobbes? What is the hack you mentioned?

Hi,

I also have version 1+, and I am interested in trying out version 2 !
What's the status of the software ? Does SPG still exist ? If there is no more legal owner, I can make an ISO of the CD and the floppies for the general pleasure :)
