Hi,

I am looking for USB audio support for eCS 1.2R.  I researched os2warp.be and found IBM driver that the other users pointed to to make their systems work.  But when I tried the available IBM driver, it looked for setting in config.sys to be corrected.  The installer did not explain what it was looking for in config.sys.  I can see my USB devces attached to the system with the USB Device Monitor.

Any ideas???  Thank you! :)

Hi

My guess is that you do not have all required USB drivers installed and configured correctly. You would need relevant USB Controller drivers and probably both USBD.SYS and USBHID.SYS installed and configured correctly before going further.

No guarantees but I think USBcfg may be of help in configuring USB settings - presuming the USB Audio driver is suitable for the hardware involved.

You should be able to find USBcfg here http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/usbcfgb7a.zip

Hope that helps

I have noticed the config sys statement
DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\USBAUDIO.SYS
I wonder if this setup will work with this item ???:

Bose Companion® 5 multimedia speaker system
USB simplicity System links to your computer through a single USB
connection. No special software, sound card upgrade, adaptors or
complicated wiring needed.

Hi

Sorry, no idea at all.

Looking at the usbaudio.txt file I see:-

2.4 List of Tested USB-Audio
============================

Labtec LCS-1040 (speaker only)
Altec ADA-70 (speaker only)
TELEX H-531 (microphone only)

2.5 Requirements
================

2.5.1  Hardware
OS/2 USB audio driver is developed to support any USB audio device that follows
USB Audio device specifications.

2.5.2  Software
       (a.) USB Basic support
       (b.) MMPM/2

I would guess that if the Bose product conforms to the above mentioned "USB Audio device specifications" then it should work. However, it may be worth checking that those specs - wherever they are - have not changed during the period of time since the usbaudio driver was released.

If you get on well with the Retailer involved maybe you could purchase with an option to Return if the driver does not work...

Regards

Pete
