This isn't a bug report.  Likely something I've done.  Stupidly.
Decided to download and try the release version of PMMAIL
Take the install options, everything runs, but PMMAIL starts and goes away.
No message.  Nothing.
Anyone else encountered and solved this?
Thanks
Dave.

I have not tried playing with the new PMMail yet - but you may want to check your popuplog.os2 (usually on the boot drive in the root directory) to see if it has any information about the crash.

It is possible a DLL it needs is not in a path statement or it is crashing when loading the wrong version of a DLL - or it is a bug... but more info would be required (which hopefully resides in the popuplog.os2 file).

If you do not see an entry in it for PMMail, then try to start PMMail again and see if that generates an entry (that doesnt indicate PMMail - for instance some DLL or other process - which may be something PMMail is trying to load when it fails).

Let us know if you find something... your best bet though (armed with that info) may be to contact the maintainers of PMMail...

Thanks for the tips.
Checked the popuplog and found no PMMAIL entries.
There were some Thunderbird entries (since solved), but Thunderbird just doesn't compete with some features of the old PMMAIl and I am hoping PMMAIL 3.0 addresses my SMTP needs.  If it does, I'll stick with it.

Dave,

Check the PMMail directory for any sort of log as to the problem. You may also want to try to start it from the commandline... some programs that require something else (like libc) will just not start or begin to and exit with no message - but sometimes will display a message to a VIO window if started there such as "unable to find/load libc063" or something similar...

Hi Robert,
I've tried those suggestions earlier.
No new files in any PMMAIL directories - and when starting from the command line there is no "visible" evidence of any attempt to display a message in a window.
libc063 was located during the install process and the path is in the config.sys
I'm going to re-download and start over before I go the bug-report route.
Thanks again,
Dave
