At some stations near Trenton, the gas prices is $3.73 per unleaded regular gas. The stations near me in East Windsor New Jersey is $3.69 per unleaded regular gas (for now it is). I fill up the tank about every other week to almost every three weeks.   ;D

Unleaded regular gas (95) in sweden is now 14SEK/liter, that's about 2.33 dollars/liter which makes the gallon price about 9 dollars. My car slurps a smidgen over 1.1 liter per 10 kilometers and I have to fill up the tank very week.
(This is how I ride: http://www.fordeumicrosites.com/en-gb/focusst/flash.html)

The site is really nice. I can see it using my eCS notebook computer.  ;D

My Dad's car 2007 Ford Focus. I pay for it but I consider it his car.  ;D I am going for major 'good son' points.  8)
I have more leg room in the Fortwo than I do in the Focus.  8)

I suspect that is an american Focus which is nothing like the european one. :)

Although I read you're getting the european Focus over there in the future.

Robert Deed

Really doubt they are going to bring the euro focus over.  It would cost too much to retool a factory in the US, and ford doesn't have the cash available to import this car to the US.  Also, though the euro focus is much much nicer then the US focus the euro focus is a little on the small side for the US market, being slightly smaller then the previous generation focus which ford had to use incredibly incentives and mis-information to get off their lots (dealer lying about fuel effiency, telling you that you could only get financing if you bought a focus.. =)  I was buying a car from a ford dealer (which also owned a chevy dealer) and they told me I could buy a 21,000 dollar focus but not a 20,000 dollar chevy...  but if I wanted any other ford car, I wouldn't qualify for the credit... little sketchy.

So I'm loving my 31,000 dollar VW =)

The euro focus is quite the car, but I'd rather see some of the Holdens and Austrialian cars come over here like the next-gen Ford Falcon. That's a beautiful machine!

Hey "BigWarpGuy";

Just knew that "your" Smart Fortwo Pure ;D (which would be much better than biking it) would make plenty of sense in certain parts of the world (deep South of The Border) sooner rather than later:

The Takutu Bridge is inconveniently sited for Lethem residents

Dear Editor,

The Takutu Bridge is now in semi operation and all other access routes to Guyana have since been closed. This has become an inconvenience to residents of Lethem and St Ignatius Village who have to travel approximately 4km from Lethem, along an unlit and desolated road to cross over to Brazil.

The 'old' crossing was in the heart of Lethem and was easily accessible by all persons. However, a decision was made to stop this crossing and everyone has to use the 'international' crossing. For persons who walk or ride to get over to Bon Fim, this has become a major inconvenience as it now takes nearly an hour to get to the crossing (as against 5-10 mins previously).
Another major point of complaint is the security of the area where the bridge is located. The road to the bridge is mostly along a dark desolate stretch of road. It is very risky for persons, especially females, to use the road late in the evenings or early in the mornings.

The actual distance from Lethem to the international crossing is approximately 2km. But there is a creek that runs between the two locations. The road between Lethem and the Takutu Bridge crosses this creek approximately 2 km on the outskirts of Lethem. This means that persons going to the Takutu crossing would first have to go to the outskirts of Lethem and then travel another 2km to reach the bridge. Travelling such a distance is very tiring and also risky......

Now the "ALCOHOL" running "your" Smart Fortwo Pure would mind! And, I think that we would be in business "South of the Border" soon!  ;D ::) ;D

Kindest regards.

Hello ""BigWarpGuy"

From all appearances "DELTA" has touched down close to the "South Dakota Racing Circuit" long before we can even figure out how to get the "Smart Fortwo Pure" South of The Border for the November meet.  ;D ;D ;D

Delta lands

The upbeat Carifesta theme song danced to by the Carifesta Logo dancers created a festive atmosphere for passengers and crew of the first Delta Flight to arrive at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri yesterday morning.

Delta is the first major American carrier to come to Guyana since 1970, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Manniram Prashad, said. He added that other American carriers will be coming to Guyana soon; however, he indicated that he is not at liberty to name them. View Video Coverage

According to the Minister, Delta will be flying from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport, New York to CJIA, Guyana and back to JFK three times weekly: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Delta arrived at the CJIA yesterday morning at approximately 7 am with 181 passengers on board and departed at 9.30 am with 185.

Raquel Chandluer, Delta's District Sales Manager for Guyana, Trinidad, St. Lucia and Barbados, explained that the company is presently expanding into South America....

And, from what I have heard over the news... we just cannot envy our friends over in "Germany" who are having to pay "double the price per gallon of gas" as Americans do.
Perhaps, vehicles like the "Smart Fortwo Pure" running on "alcohol" might just do the trick after all given the world demand for fossil fuel.  8)

Regards.

BigWarpGuy

I do not feel so bad about gas prices here knowing there are those elsewhere who have higher prices. http://www.smart.com It could be why Smart is developing a micro-hybrid drive for the Fortwo.

8)

There are ways to use used oil (used in cooking) to power a vehicle.
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/01/how_to_convert.php Here is one on how to convert ones vehicle to use it.  8)

As gas costs climb, driving dwindles

Gasoline prices this week reached a new record average of $4.02 per gallon, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

Hey BigWarpGuy!

It must be way past midnight for "some" to be only now thinking about getting that "Smart ForTwo"!  ::) 8) ::)

The Fortwo isn't for everyone. It fits my needs and desires (I wanted a mini car that was street legal).

There other similar small vehicles being sold or being developed. One that is being developed is the BMW Isetta; a newer version of what was made many years ago. The original made the Smart  Fortwo look big.  ;D

Hey BigWarpGuy!

There is something else that would go handsomely with the "Smart ForTwo" and OS/2 - It is called "IBM Lotus Symphony 1.0". Have you tried it yet... (the best thing is that it is for free)!

http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotus/symphony/home.jspa

I think it would (apart from saving on cash for gas) give consumers a "Smart" and "Easy" way to do their "budgeting"..... they are all some of the sensible ways of doing things economically in these tough times!  ;D  ;)

Best regards.

I prefer Open Office. It is also free. I have tried Symphony on a Win PC. It did not work as well as OO.

I still use Star Office on my eCS 1.1 computer. It works quite well for me.  ;D

It is amazing how far this thread has come.   ;D

Hey BigWarpGuy,

By any chance did you read the below attached news article:

Small and medium enterprises to get help with agri project proposals

Yep,

QuoteIt is amazing how far this thread has come  ;D

And, yet we have not arrived at our "BETERVERWAGTING" Project (Office) Location.   ;D ::) ;D

Do you think our colleague "WarpCafe" and others are reading into the proposed business consultancy/operations (game plan) and will come out to play  ;D ;D ;D)? Since Lotus Symphony is for free then we would be definitely be able to "cash" in on the "services offerings...in relation to the development of those "project proposals" ;D ;) ;D

Conscious; and, I still looking forward to test driving that "Smart ForTwo" at the South Dakota Circuit in South America.   8)

I read the article. It was interesting.

When you test drive the Fortwo, you should be aware of the automated manual transmission. One accelerates like an automatic but there is pauses that one has to lift ones foot of the gas pedal. It is brief but one can get used to it. While in drive, one can switch to manual and shift it yourself but without having clutch pedal. There is a nice forum at http://www.smartcarofamerica.com It does for Smart Fortwo what this forum does for OS/2-eCS.  8)
