Hey BWG,

Just curious to know if the Satellite with that Google Ad is in a position to provide us with some pictures of what is being left behind by "Hurricane IKE" and how many "SmartFor Fifty or Luxury Water Crafts" were seen/spotted during the "evacuations". :( 8)

And, with the advent of Global Warming"...this may take some getting used to!

Best regards.

With global warming melting the ice, perhaps they should develop a Smart ForWet vehicle? A Smart boat of sorts?  ???   ;D   8)

That would be really "neat"; and, I would add - with enough freezing (cold room) space for the "Penguins" (will that be OSes or those "Tuxedo Clad Birds")!!! 8) ;D 8)

It appears that the signs here would read - "No SmartFor Twos, SmartFor Twelve Limos... Allowed Here!  ???

All in all, the continuing fight fight against "global warming" and to save the "rain forests".... it is supposed!

Hey BigWarpGuy;

Here is a picture on the Rolls Royce I may have mentioned in an early post:

The only thing is that one may have to go South of the Border to get a ride in it.

Also, I am wonder when that Rolls Royce will finally meet the Smart For Two Pure (Old meeting New....)!  ;D ;) ;D

It would be like Lightning McQueen meeting the shop keeper in the Disney's Cars movie. :)  I just hope the young French car would be polite in greeting the old English car. :)

Apparently we do not have to worry about global warming since it seems to be going the other way?
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/39611/113/
"Chicago (IL) - In contrast to the looming 30-year trend of overall diminishing ice growth, the Arctic Ocean is again showing signs of a return to large ice packs. In 2008, first year ice coverage grew significantly. It set a record covering 73% of the entire Arctic basin. Because most of this was first year ice, and therefore thin, it was more prone to melting during the summer months. And while that did happen, the amount of first year ice is still large, possibly indicating the beginning of a trend."
Perhaps we would - eventually - have to put more co2 into the atmosphere?  ???  ;D

IBM puts 'Bluehouse' tinge on cloud computing\

IBM on Monday launched a major initiative into cloud computing, a current term for Internet-based services, in an effort it hopes will challenge the early lead of cloud pioneers such as Amazon and Google.

Among the offerings launched on Monday is "Bluehouse," a Web-based social-networking and collaboration service designed for business, a test version of which is available from IBM's Web site.
ibm

Bluehouse allows users to carry out many of the activities associated with social networks, but is specifically designed for businesses, with features such as document and contact sharing, joint projects, online meetings and online communities. The project is intended as a way for businesses to connect to partners, agencies, suppliers, customers, and outside experts.

Other services introduced on Monday include Lotus Sametime Unyte, for Web conferences and document sharing; Rational Policy Tester OnDemand, which scans Web content to deal with compliance issues; Rational AppScan OnDemand, which scans Web applications for security bugs; and Telelogic Focal Point, which enables information sharing among project management, engineering, marketing, and other teams.

The concept of cloud computing incorporates other recent developments in Internet-based computing, such as software as a service and the rich browser-based interfaces associated with Web 2.0. Google promotes the concept through its Google Apps, and Amazon through its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).

The term "cloud" itself is an abstraction of the idea of the Internet, and is based on the cloud symbol often used to represent the Internet in diagrams.

MIT prof sees no free ride to cleaner cars

To get under the hood of transportation technology, just talk to John Heywood.

Heywood, a professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his colleagues took the proverbial big-picture view of transportation in a recent report on how the U.S. could slash gasoline usage by 2035.

(Credit: MIT)

Looking at the pace of technology development and the market "pull" of consumers, the report tries to sort out dead ends from more promising routes.

MIT's report concludes there's great potential for transportation technology. If lightweight hybrids and plug-in hybrids, for example, were the primary vehicle by 2035, the U.S. fleet would use about half the fuel it currently uses, helping significantly lower greenhouse gas levels.

Battery-powered cars aren't the only route to reinventing cars. Biofuels are touted as a gasoline replacement but are coming under more fire for financial and environmental reasons.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles remain the elusive prize--technically elegant yet stubbornly hard to make commercial and environmentally sustainable.

Meanwhile, smaller cars would go a long way to efficiency but automakers tend to build bigger and bigger cars, responding to consumer demand.

The big question is: Who is "right" and who is "wrong"; but, in the final analysis it will all come down to the - "economics".  ???
