Hi "John";
"Saborion" re. "the Rolls Royce that is OS/2!" I'd rather liken OS/2 to a good and dependable small little Toyota, Nissan or Ford for that matter. If you want the extra mods, bells and whistles with these cars its a simple matter of installing them ie we Need better hardware support for OS/2 eCS. I personally know an owner of Both a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II and Silver Spirit and to quote him "If Ever you buy a Rolls Royce - You're a Fool! And You're looking at One!" :-) It's a Fuel Guzzler and especially high on maintenance costs - more likened to MS Windows :-)
I could not disagree with you more when you say:

when you also say in the same breath

So much so for second hand information;

Got to tell you dude that as an engineering apprentice some years ago I actually was involved in the machining of certain parts for a old Rolls Royce that was donated to the training center that I was attending at the time. Did your friend also tell you that you could place a "penny" on its edge on the engine while the engine of the Rolls Royce is running and it will not fall.

; and, if
Performance Plus, Deskman/2, Desktop Observatory, InCharge, uti-maco Safe Guard Desktop, Watcom, Arcada Backup, BackAgain/2 et cetera et cetera... are indications of what are below the "sealed" hood of the Rolls Royce (that the the OS/2 World Foundation is trying very hard to get a look under...

); then, it is supposed that if one wishes enjoy a ride then why mind the "costs". You get what you pay for; and, no, one does not look at a Rolls Royce and call it an
Toyota, Nissan or Ford
How about hanging around until the "best-of-breed engineers" and "programmers" gain access under the (now
"sealed" like that of the Rolls Royce) OS/2 hood.

Best regards,
