Hi klipp!
I successfully used VoiceType on an IBM Aptiva equipped with an IBM MWave audio card (it was that time when IBM made PCs and wrote OS/2 drivers too...). I seem to remember that on VoiceType manual the sample screenshots showed two cards on the settings notebook: IBM MWave and SoundBlaster 16. So these ones should surely work. But, generally speaking, I think that most audio cards worked correctly back in the Warp 4 years (if they came with OS/2 drivers...). (And if you also need sound in your DOS sessions, then you may want to follow Greggory's suggestion).
I have a SBLive 5.1 Player on another PC, but I wasn't able to run VoiceType on it. I use uniaud 1.1.4 RC1, but before I 'switched' to uniaud my driver was sblive08x. I do remember I tried VoiceType with sblive08x driver, but can't remember if it did or did not work with this driver, sorry.
As for the docs, I really have no clue where to find them, but I DID read somewhere something related to an issue about VoiceType and uniaud drivers. I'll do some more search...
