Hi Robert! As my previous post states, On this test setup I'm using a SBLive sound card. I've also tried Using SB16 & Unaid. At this point I really don't believe its a Soundcard problem, the error message remains the same (as described in one of the previous posts on this topic) reguardless of the soundcard being used. I now believe this has to be somethnig related to eCs! (possibly LVM ??) -- I wish I knew!
thanks for you're interest

Hi klipp,
LVM isn't an issue. All my machines use LVM. You may wish to try Sander's SBLive081 driver (on Hobbes, if memory serves) and see if the results are the same. I have had odd problems with UniAudio and some apps (such as Ceres) - though BlueWarper seems to have gotten it working with UniAudio (wonder if something changed in the UniAudio driver since?).
The other problems I have seen arise are issues in the MMOS2.ini files - which I have found the easiest way to rectify them is to uninstall any and all sound cards MMOS2 thinks are installed, uninstall and reinstall MMOS2 and then sound card/driver support. That might work as VT will fail if when trying to determine what device it should be talking to, it reads the wrong information from the MM subsystem.
And I have found that when playing with changing sound cards and/or drivers, the ini files get a bit messed up because of erroneous data left in them from uninstalling/reinstalling cards or drivers (though some things still work). Often it is as simple as a new, higher card ID is assigned to the newest card/driver instance installed
(in which case, see the last paragraph below).
The only other thing I have seen cause it is if the sound card is already locked by something else running (audio player, some add-on, some extension to the WPS that locks it, etc). I have successfully tested it with NPSWPS, and Styler/2 and xWP without issue - but did have some other programs on autostart that would lock the sound card and create a similar issue with VT initialization.
You may also want to go into the VT settings (not sure where or how - my VT machine is at the house) and see what sound card index it is set to use - and play with that value... trying 0 or 1 or 2 sometimes works.
