WishListForWarpstockEurope2008

Which topics would like to see dealt with in presentations and workshops at Warpstock Europe 2008? Don't hesitate to make your suggestion and comment on existing ones!

Come on, let's see those wishes.  8)

SAB,

are you running out of threads to hijack?
Or, what is the deeper meaning behind jumping on something today that was announced already 5 months ago?

http://www.os2world.com/content/view/17984/2/
was posted on 27th of April.
And why - for heaven's sake - did you post this into "bounty system" -> "general discussion" ?
I think you have no clue about who is doing what in the OS/2 and eCS community, also your expectations on what can be achieved by os2world or netlabs prove this. SAB, you're simply a mess. But let's get back on track:

Are you seriously expecting that someone will now go through the wish list and come up with a presentation, now that it's only 2 months ahead? Also, from your point of view

people should better refrain from being interested in WSE2K8, because if all these approx. 100 people REALLY go there, the cost on energy and pollution will kill the planet almost immediately, wouldn't it?

Many thanks Moderator - "warpcafe", I must admit that I may only be creeping when it comes to navigating web sites and thankfully you are there to provide some guidance - but you know, hearing just today about the closure of two banks in the the UK and one in Germany makes me feel justified that I have this one's URL as my home page; and, talking about "mess" do you care say (if you will) what is in that the world is in so much so that my favorite bank has posted an article on on it.

Well yes, I feel that it will be neat for someone to come up with some sort of presentation/discussion on the world's financial turmoil and how it can affect OS/2-eCS's development, deployment et cetera, et cetera moving forward now that it is well past midnight all over the world.

I would love to join the "100 (other) people" at "WSE2K8" but with the goings on in financial markets here in the USA ("Main Street" and "Wall Street") who will pay the rent, by the groceries, pay the utilities bills.... "for my family and me" if conditions get much worse.

Anyway, I will definitely be doing what I did the last time by listening (following the proceedings at "WSE2K8") in over the internet.

Cheers.

We (the Board and several others from around the globe) are kicking around the idea of having a partially virtual event for 2009, with some live sessions in perhaps more than one location simultaneously, and live and/or recorded (preferably live) webconferences/webcasts from other parts of the globe, bringing in speakers we might not otherwise be able to get.

I'd like to solicit some thoughts on this, particularly insofar as technology for the webconferencing/webcasting is concerned, and also for sheer logistics related to the time differentials and how we could work scheduling for, say, live events held in -0400 EDT and -0700 EDT with speakers in GMT, +0400, and even +1200.

Thanks!!

Why not do something similar for WarpStock Europe? Perhaps you charge a small fee to cover costs of equipment and time to set it up?   ???    8)

A great post BigWarpGuy.  ;)

Now, this is going to have some "ideas" popping off in my head ;D ; re:

Has any tentative date(s) been scheduled for this/such (long overdue) event(s) in light of the "perceived" global financial and economic crisis?  8)

Thanks.

Also, some words of wisdom; re:

QuoteLUXEMBOURG (AP) - The European Union's 27 governments agreed Tuesday to guarantee private savings of up to euro50,000 for one year and set guidelines on how each country could rescue failing bank, finally taking a measure of coordinated action against the financial crisis after days of wrangling.

After going it alone in taking emergency steps to bail out banks and assure savers, European governments promised to talk daily in future and "ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response to the current situation," they said in a statement.

"We are not going to tolerate a Lehman Brothers scenario," said French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, who led the talks, referring to the U.S. investment bank whose bankruptcy set off a chain of losses at other institutions.

Borrowing a word from my pal (the "BigWarpGuy") it would be "neat" to know which Operating Systems and Applications the banks in the United States of America as well as those in European Community are using; and, that would be a SMART THING to find out.  ??? Moving forward with events such as "Warpstock Europe 2008" and "the idea of having a partially virtual event for 2009, with some live sessions in perhaps more than one location simultaneously, and live and/or recorded (preferably live) webconferences/webcasts from other parts of the globe, bringing in speakers we might not otherwise be able to get"

They always say that "Two Heads Are better Than One".  ;D

Nah! The "Thread" is too........ minute; but, "Warpstock Europe 2008" may be good for lunch and dinner. ;D ; and, with $700,000,000,000 U.S. and perhaps much much more floating around somewhere in the world - some of that dough ought to really be obtained/sourced to assist in boosting the "OS/2 bounties"; and, just perhaps there can be accidental windfalls in placing the all but forgotten "bounty" here.  8)
