EXT2-OS2 is a package that allows OS/2 to seamlessly access Linux ext2 formatted partitions from OS/2 as if they were standard OS/2 drive letters. The ultimate aim of this package is to be able to use the ext2 file system as a replacement of FAT or HPFS. For the moment the only lacking feature to achieve this goal is the support for OS/2 extended attributes.
EXT2-OS2 is composed of several parts :
- A 32 bits OS/2 file system driver that allows read-write access to Linux ext2 file systems.
- A filter driver that allows OS/2 to see type 83 partitions, and allows to reorder all hard disk drive letters.
- A pair of special drivers that allows OS/2 to boot from a Linux ext2 file system.
- An OS/2 port of the Linux ext2 file system utilities (e2fsprogs version 1.10), which includes :
- mke2fs, to format partitions to the Linux ext2 file system,
- e2fsck, to check and repair Linux ext2 file systems,
- debugfs, an interactive Linux ext2 file system debugger,
- tune2fs, to change parameters of a Linux ext2 file system,
- chattr, to change attributes of a file on a Linux ext2 file system,
- lsattr, to list attributes of a file on a Linux ext2 file system.
