How do you spell relief? I-N-T-E-R-N-E-T.

By John McDonald.

Since the demise of the last major newstand publication devoted to OS/2, many OS/2 user's think they have been left without a lifeline to the pulse of the OS/2 world. This is simply not true, if you look to the internet. Parallel with the decline of printed magazines has been the rise of good-quality OS/2-related E-Zines - that you should be reading each month. We present them here, in no particular order, so you can increase your OS/2 reading habit.

OS/2 e-Zine!

One of the oldest and most established magazines, the OS/2 e-Zine! is always full of reviews and feature articles. Since the E-Zine! accepts advertising, you can always find out what the latest products are from the OS/2 software manufacturers that purchase ad space. The magazine also has a handy "subscription" service, so you can get automatic e-mail notifications when a new issue has been put on the stand.

OS/2 Computing! Magazine

Another magazine that has its pulse on the OS/2 world is the frames-enabled OS/2 Computing! Magazine. This publication is enhanced for Netscape, so be sure to install it before you start flipping pages (they even put a link to the download site on their home page). OS/2 Computing! Magazine also has regular columnists, as well as a hefty list of product reviews each month. They also have a subscription service, like the OS/2 E-Zine! does.

OS/2 Zone

The OS/2 Zone has some truly stunning graphics - which can sometimes be a little slow to load, since this site originates from Melbourne, Australia. The magazine doesn't seem to have a regular publishing schedule, but modules are updated as necessary to keep them current. The site is also a good reference for OS/2 links.

OS/2 Connect

The OS/2 Connect Newsletter was once the only source for OS/2 news. But even though it has been joined by so many other media sources, the newsletter is still the place to get the hottest OS/2 news.

EDM/2

EDM/2 stands for Electronic Developer Magazine for OS/2, and that is exactly what it is. This is the one and only best source on the internet for everything related to OS/2 development, from hints and tricks to programming news. If you are a developer of OS/2 software, this magazine should be at the top of your bookmark list.

EurOS/2

The OS/2 Web is one of the first online OS/2 magazines. It changed hands last year. OS/2 Web is optimized for frames on Netscape - the entire journal is listed as one long HTML page with an index in a window on the side of the screen. Mainly news and opinion about OS/2, they recently started doing product reviews as well.

There are many more OS/2 sites out on the web - most of them accessible directly from one of these online OS/2 magazines. If you thought you were cut off from OS/2 news - think again! Now, get clicking!
